~ Sam Cassell brought back some great memories for me. Actually played with the young Leon Howard (R.I.P) in high school. Played against Sam and Dunbar a few times in HS… and he’s telling the truth, his game, his athleticism was the same throughout his career. It was some great guards in the city, 86-88 when I played, at the time, I didn’t think Sam would have the success he had, because, as he said, he lacked athleticism… but he could shoot! Get to his spot, pull up midrange, was like a layup… I don’t have any other story except the times I did match up he torched me… and Dunbar was up 30 something with a few minutes left in the 3rd quarter and Wade had his starters in and they were still pressing full court 😂 The Gym, even as a High School kid it was intimidating looking at all the banners, the National Championships… Dunbar, my Pops Alma mater he hooped there, however I was good (at the time in football) and I opted to play for then Baltimore Football powerhouse Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. Where I went to school with another Baltimore athletic great ~ Antonio Freeman

Sam Cassell is a smart, and well articulated man. His memory is like a book. He was an all around, great basketball player who self-proclaimed that he was not at all athletic. How, and why is he not a head coach in a great organization? Some, if not many, are missing out in many major ways.

Couldn't make the Basketball team, but I did play Football and Baseball and wore #15 because of Sam Cassell. That's the number he wore at Dunbar. Missed him by 1 yr. Thank you guys for bringing the OG on the show. When I use to hoop in the mid to late 2000s, Sam Cassell, Deron Williams, Chauncey Billups, and Gilbert Arenas were the guys I studied film on… especially Sam I am. Much love and respect to him and what he brought to the game as a player and what he brings to the game as a coach. A true winner and a H.O.F’er in my opinion.
