Both vloggers have become quite wealthy from this career, both seek to gain attention and personal gain, they just go abouts it in different ways. Sam likes the internet to think that he's an approachable, likeable, cuddly care bear that everyone gets along with when in reality he's out of touch, undeniably cringeworthy, and loves to foster his cult of personality. Josh thinks he's on a noble crusade to make the world as better place by calling out every small inconvenience and misstep with every airline he flies, he likes to blow things out of proportion, create drama and style himself as a the Juliane Assange of the airline industry. Both are quite narcissistic, and both are driven by the attention of their viewers and subsequent payouts. I don't really listen to either, I sometimes watch their videos because no one else has covered an airline I want to fly. If I want to listen to the opinion of a flight reviewer, I'd rather listen to those who have a good track record of being impartial and staying clear of any drama or controversy. Jeb Brooks, Dennis Bunnik, and Vicarious Voyager come to mind, it helps that KZbin revenue is not their main source of income.

Sam has just released his own video dealing with this situation. After watching his explanation (in which he also offers an apology to Josh for his comments that he made in a flash of anger after being relentlessly attacked by Josh previously) where he goes into detail about not only the mission purpose of his channel and the style & content of his videos but also addresses these accusations from Josh & others of being paid by the airlines to provide good reviews & PR material, I have now come to the conclusion that it is Josh himself who actually owes Sam an apology for defaming him. Josh has consistently accused Sam of being paid by the airlines to provide positive feedback & reviews and to provide PR campaigns for them, and Sam has publicly denied this and clearly explains how he makes his money. So where is your evidence Josh that Sam does indeed get paid by the airlines? I would suggest that Josh himself has defamed Sam by making these unfounded claims on many occasions, just as he now accuses Sam of doing to him. What is good for the goose is good for the gander Josh. I previously had a pretty high opinion of Josh Cahill and his channel (and was never a big fan of Sam's content to be honest), however not anymore now that the true story about Josh is finally coming out and after watching Johnny G's video here (as well as Sam's yesterday) my mind has now been made up & I have just unsubscribed from Josh's channel.

His content often feels more like PR, lacking the critical perspective that genuine aviation reviews should have. For those of us who are passionate about aviation, it’s essential to have reviewers who prioritize transparency over brand deals. Jeb Brooks - Offers genuine insights, mixing the good and bad without sugar-coating. Simply Aviation - Provides straightforward, unbiased reviews of both premium and budget airlines. Paul Lucas (Wingin' It) - Known for comprehensive and objective travel experiences. Dennis Bunnik Travels - Gives grounded, practical reviews, especially valuable for frequent travelers. I dislike the way Josh is discriminatory about other countries and cultures. He’s been especially rude to Indians. I’m glad that Vistara air hostess called him annoying - Josh, you are.

Well at least Sam Chui doesn’t involve in politics. Josh keeps showcasing his political viewpoints by wearing Taiwan flag and Hong Kong independence flag in his reviews which is SUPER ANNOYING

Your bias comes out in the first moment when you refer to Sam Chui as a paid cheerleader. Where is YOUR proof? Just because Josh Cahill has made a career out of bashing airlines does not make him more legitimate. Chui is not and has never claimed to be an air travel reviewer. He is an aviation enthusiast and his goal is bring attention to the joy of flight and the culture of air travel. By its nature that will always have more positivity to it. But it is no less genuine and legitimate.

I'm not supporting Sam or Josh and I'm not interested in both. Sam rarely post actual review that is deep enough/less frequent, absolutely a paid by the airline so his report is deeply scripted, but I have no problem with his style of reporting. Although to be said - He seems more commercially motivated than few years ago when he shares more of his interest on the airline industry and become too much of people pleaser too so I also dislike that. I absolutely HATE Josh since his mouth is unfiltered and absolutely zero respects for airline staffs just to get his perks most of times. To those who think you cannot be brutal without being rude, you're wrong. Some reviewers I prefer are brutal (David from SA, Kevin from FlipFlop Travelers) but they were never rude.

Josh Cahill is an awful man. He doesn’t provide measured and fair reviews. His videos are clickbait for revenue. He is persona non grata to so many airlines: Air Canada, Malaysia Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Qatar Airways, Vistara etc His commentary of certain airlines comes across as discriminatory to other races and cultures. He yearns for air hostesses to smile at him and treat him like a celebrity (which he is not). He is a cold character; the sort that got no love from his mother growing up. Sam is a fun, measured and informative vlogger. Of course he’s irritated by Josh and should retaliate. Josh has been maligning Sam for some time.

subscribed to both, then unsubscribed to both, one thinks everything is brilliant to keep in with the airlines....the other thinks everything is poor in order to get views.....but both full of their own importance

Josh did not provide any evidence of any" sexual favours" , he accused vistara of. I think it works both ways, Josh just wants views and you can see it in his videos

Yep, kinda ironic that the guy who made a straight up propaganda video for the Saudi regime a few months ago now paints himself as the poster boy of honesty and integrity. I'm a fan of neither btw, they both have a creepy, smarmy vibe, give me wobbly-cam Noel any day. 🤣
@doodles307514 күн бұрын
@rjjain373 the sexual favours he's refuring to where emails written to him by airline staff saying they had been asked within the company. He shouldn't have to publicly put them online as he could be risking that persons job or even their life. Josh gets views off his own back because he's good and likeable, not because a KZbinr that's basically doing adverts for promoting airlines

What began as an interaction between two airline and customer service reviewers ended with mutual accusations. Lesson learned: don't be friends with other airline reviewers if you are one of them. If you meet someone who works in that field, in a hotel lobby or on a flight, pretend you don't know them. Egos are very high in this world of insane competition between people.

I'm not familiar with many vloggers but I have seen a variety and I can tell you, what I am not interested in are vloggers who ONLY travel on business and first class. I'd rather watch someone who at least sometimes travels on economy. Many of us do not have a money tree and advice on first class is of absolutely no use to the ordinary Joe like me.
@curtlee622814 күн бұрын
My point exactly! Business and First Class reviews are only relevant for the tiny 1% that can afford such flights. I'd rather watch economy reviews as they're far more relevant for the 99% of us that travel economy - like me.
@VaibhavShete198114 күн бұрын
Actually I think that all reviews depend on the day they are flown and not represent the airline itself. Famous bloggers like Sam are famous with all airlines crews and thus they try their best to present a positive review about their airlines to Sam
@theRealJohnnyG.14 күн бұрын
Absolutely. Also a single flight is never enough to judge an airline. However if the price is right and the review is announced to the airline in advance, this will obviously have an impact.
@VaibhavShete198114 күн бұрын
@theRealJohnnyG. To be fare all avgeek vloggers should have atleast flown with a perticular airline for multiple flights and routes both domestic and international unannounced to have a fare review at the end

I'm rewriting the comments here after Sam released a counter video, and I have watched it. While I do enjoy Josh's videos more than Sam, but in the counter video, Sam make a more solid point than Josh. Keep in mind that aviation world is all about business and business means branding. Sam has established a personal branding as an avgeek who always curious and want to gain insight in their behind the scene. He make it clear that he's not an airline reviewer and I believe that, it's obvious that his content are scripted and he gained so many access to behind the scene, something that not many other avgeeks are privileged to. With this personal branding, it's obvious that airlines would trust him and even using him sort of like a PR, and it's not wrong. I'm not gonna say whether I think he get paid or not, however, even if he get paid by the airlines, there's nothing wrong with it as long as everything is line with the personal branding. Sam make it clear that he's not an airline reviewer and it's in line with most of his content. Josh on the other hand, while he also brand himself as an avgeek, he is more an airline reviewer, there's nothing wrong with it and it's more mainstream content. However, Josh is probably the most unfiltered airline reviewer I ever seen, and in the eyes of the company, the persona that he gets is more like an auditor or inspector rather than an avgeek, and you know how dreadful an auditor or inspector for a company. The thing is, he's not a real inspector, so he's not authorized to do an inspection. So this led him to have problems with so many Airlines compared to other airline reviewers. In this clash, I have to say Josh is the one who started everything, I have seen Josh's video for so many years and so many of his videos in the past, even before Pandemic, he always compare himself to Sam, he always said "my opinion are based on first hand experience that I have without any sponsor from the airline, unlike Sam Chui", while I can't name each videos where he mentioned Sam Chui, I can recall that to the videos before Pandemic, he mentioned Sam's name so many times, saying "I'm not Sam Chui", I do respect his opinion, but that's not a right thing to do, you should not bring other people's name, Sam's content, while it looks pretty much scripted, he never mentioned other names. initially it's not gonna bother Sam, but overtime it will eventually got into Sam's head, and finally, Sam is snapped.
@herreach69559 күн бұрын
well, turns out my comment is deleted by Josh Cahill, despite I make it clear that it's subjective and I said he shouldn't mentioned Sam's name in his video as basically Sam doesn't have anything to do with all of his problems with many airlines, that's my point, I watched Josh's videos more than Sam's, but in the end, I would rather agree with people who dislike both of them because I finally knows Josh's true color.

I've met Sam 12 years ago for a couple minutes during spotting at AMS, but never actually watched his video's. Never met Josh but do occasionally watch his vids. They're both businessman living off their watchtime and engagement and both are in the same niche, which clashes eventually (not saying it's good or bad, it just happens). P.S. for those who haven't read it already, Vistara just got merged with Air India... Who knows why.

AI and Vistara merged, in part, because tata (the company that owns part of vistara) bought Air India, not sure about other reasons though.

Problems aside, it must be very frustrating for passengers to be filmed and a feel a lack of privacy on these flights. I imagine the airlines are getting rather fed up with these KZbinrs. That said I have watched a few of these video, so yes, I am contributing to this issue.

As the song goes, Sam has bitten more than he can chew, if he had any shred of evidence against Josh, then at least for the sake of what's left of his reputation, he should have brought the facts (if any) and accepted Josh's challenge. Yes indeed, Josh is critical and yes, he doesn't allow small things to pass off easily, but at least speaking for myself, I have reasons to believe in Josh's integrity against Sam's lack of it.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t really clock this beef until like a year ago. To me Sam is so blatantly paid off/given exclusive access to ish, so I’ve never taken any of his content as being serious - he hasn’t even done any real reviews for a few years now. He just makes airplane themed content, and I’m a plane geek, through and through, idgaf about his reviews, I’m only there for the planes. Josh to me is at times is unnecessarily critical, like beyond Noel Phillips critical, but without the temperance of recognizing his own privilege. But he’s German, and I’m very familiar with the German people, it’s easily my favorite country in the world and I’ve visited it 8 times and want to move there (Ich spreche Deutsch auch), so I know that they’re very direct, or even crass at times

Nobody really believes Sam Chui except for the naive and ignorant. I only watch some of his videos for the “advance/insider access” because we all know many airlines give him that for obvious reasons.

To be fair, i wonder how much of Josh's background is true. Since he was born in West Germany, moved early to East Germany, was raised there (there is even a local amateur football article about him from 2014). Doesn't he always say that he comes from Australia or lived their? And lived in China. And now lives in Sri Lanka or something?

As an Australian I can say there's a definite Aussie twang to his accent, so unless he's a master at imitating accents, I'd say he's definitely spent a good deal of time there - or at the very least had an English teacher for a long time who had an Australian accent! :D
