As former crew for BA, our flight pay began from report (1h40 before flight dept for LH, 1h30 before for SH), and ended at clear (30m after chocks on for SH, 45m after chocks on for LH). So essentially on short haul you got an extra 2h pay, and on long haul you got an extra 2h25m pay. SH was deemed as any flight under 5h, LH any flight over 6h. BA do operate a small number of mid haul routes and pay was determined by whether it was operated by a narrow body (A319/20/21) or wide body (B777, B787). Narrow = SH, wide = LH.

not sure how long or when you served at BA, as it sounds like you were new crew but on Long Haul at BA ( this is before we were all mixed flying ) we had box payments too ( back in the old days that is ....im talking about 25 years ago) they dont get that now in fact the money is dreadful ....... but i heard emirates treat their staff like shit.....as do most airlines. i think the one thing about emirates is that you need to make hay while the sun shines. sadly, its a very very unhealthy job and anyone doing it beyond 35 years old is setting themselves up for future medical issues. the nights out of bed, the eating processed food, the working at altitude ( along with the aero toxicity that is brushed under the carpet ) ......i would always say do it for a few years but dont miss the boat on 'proper jobs' as there is nothing worse than coming out of a cabin crew job and thinking everybody is going to snap you up , and the reality is that you just serve tea and coffee 99.9% of the time and employers know this

I’d worked for UAE neighbor‘s airline. I kid you not, they even take into account “crew discount” provided by a hotel and deduct it from the original meal allowance. For example, if the crew get 50% off, and the dinner costs 100, the dinner allowance would be 50 i.e. €35 for a 24 in MUC, €50 in ZRH and €45 in BKK. Oh not to mention tax and service charge the crew have to pay at the hotel. And they have the same meal timing policy which I find it extremely unreasonable compared to per hour policy.

Former Qatar Airways cabin crew here. Great video and well explained! The QR salary structure was the same as Emirates, but I found the layover allowances didn’t increase every year and were pretty much the same throughout my five years there. I thought it was so unfair as prices had increased and they were still paying us the same allowances. This also meant that they were paying you a breakfast allowance for example, that was much less than breakfast in the hotel. Very sneaky indeed.

66.30aed at .27 for one AED in US dollars or $17.90 per flying hour. 4,835 x .27= $1,305.45 per month base pay. 100 hrs of flying time $1,790. That would total out to $3,095.45 with base salary. Not sure but I think pilot can only fly 80 every two weeks. I am sure you work more than 100 hrs. pre month. So, if it is only 100 hrs. per month and base pay then $37,145.40 per year. But the fact is you are happy and enjoying the adventure. I do remember asking a Fly attended she did mention the flying time was from brake off to brake on was the flying time. This was a great video, giving a lot of helpful information. When I was in my early 20s, becoming a flight attendant sounded like an amazing job, but all the US carriers had minimum height requirements back then, and at 5'3", I wasn't eligible for hire at any of them! One of my professors had a 20 year old daughter who applied for one of the legacy carriers at the time, and the professor decided to apply, too. She shared what the experience was like and the daughter ended up getting hired by the carrier's regional that was based in our town. On the surface, the pay isn't great, but when you factor in that your accommodations are free and that you probably don't need a car, that's a decent salary. By my calculations, you could pick up 3 UAE to MIA flights a month and have the rest of the month completely free! A few questions First, you mentioned ground pay. Does that mean you're paid for the time on a layover or turnaround, or is it just the ground time from the moment you get on the plane pre-flight to the moment you depart post flight? Can you pick up additional flights beyond the 80 - 100 hours you're contracted to work? If my 25 year old son didn't have tattoos, I'd suggest he look into working for Emirates, but I know that's a deal breaker, even if they're not visible.
@Amanda_kingxx28 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for such a detailed comment, that’s so interesting to hear about! 🥺🫶 I wish it was as simple as picking up 3 MIA flights 😅 but sadly you can only really get 2 ULR (ultra long haul) flights a month because of flight times, legalities and rest. MIA flights are hard to get too because of the $$ so you can’t pick them up - but only swap, and no one really wants to swap those 😂 With all the extras that come with the job, that’s what really makes it overall a great package! Good spotting on the ground pay, I actually forgot to mention it, it’s the same hourly rate as the flying pay (but on the ground) and only on Turnarounds! So usually an extra 1-2 hours added on from the time between disembarking and boarding the new pax. By the way, emirates does allow tattoos but only if they’re covered in the uniform! So if he’s only got them on his torso, chest or back he might actually be able to apply! Thank you again for all the love and support! 🫶

Only just found the channel but NOW SUBSCRIBED. 😀👍
@Amanda_kingxx26 күн бұрын
Thanks for subscribing! Glad you found the video interesting 😌 so the flying pay and meal allowances are all paid in the following month, and it’s all pretty much automated. It goes off flight departure and arrival times so they’re all registered to the minute. The company already know the exact allowances every trip gives each crew, so the only changes are made if any delays happen (outstation before departure). This can sometimes be missed and flight hours can be wrong so no harm in tracking them yourself, but they’re usually right! Hope that answers your questions and thanks again for the support 🫶

Amanda my dear, What provision for a retirement/ superannuation scheme does Emirates have? We all need to put away a little for our golden years after all. Like 15% of earnings is a good starting points.
@Amanda_kingxx28 күн бұрын
Hi mark! Great question! Emirates doesn’t provide any retirement fund or superannuation, so this is up to you to put aside for yourself! 💪🏼
@yogamusicrelaxation608625 күн бұрын
there is no pension scheme but what they call End of service money which was like 3% from your basic salary put aside by the company. Not much but free money still

Those who works on Emirates flights catering gets 1200aed salary and stuck to 1500 for decades. It means salary is different depending upon the passport and nationality 😏

Hi! Amanda you were quite open about sharing your earnings with EK, tell us what if you have buffet meals in Hotel accommodation, do you still get meal allowances
@Amanda_kingxx28 күн бұрын
The meal allowances are actually paid in the next month’s salary. So you can really eat anything you’d like, but you have to budget your money accordingly! Hope that answers your question 😊
@dandatiles840428 күн бұрын
Thank you for showing the salary straight upfront. Other posts for "salary reveal" is typically somewhere near the end of the video. So KZbin income reveal when?
@Amanda_kingxx27 күн бұрын
I appreciate this so much, I really wanted to put something out there that I would have loved to watch before getting the job! ✈️ Ooo that could be interesting, you might be shocked about that though! It takes quite a bit of time to make it worth the $$ 😂

What extra training if any is needed to move up to Business or First Class or it is just based on experience ?
@Amanda_kingxx27 күн бұрын
It’s purely just service training you’ll receive when moving up to business and first. But in saying that, to get the promotion it’s goes of a mix of time of service in the company and your file! Hope that answers your questions

What happens after 100 hours? Does the flying pay go up ? If the max pay is 100 hours then that means you only need to work 100 hours and then relax !
@DMS2023128 күн бұрын
Can you pocket the meal allowance if you don’t use it? I worked for IBM and we could. Coworker paid for a $14k Australian outback motorcycle/camping adventure just by saving meal allowances.
@Amanda_kingxx27 күн бұрын
Of course! It’s all paid into the next month’s pay, I should have mentioned that in the video 😅 but this is why it’s so good to save it, especially if the base wage (like at emirates) is quite low! You just see the meal allowances as you real wage

the sad part of this vedio is not a single cabin crew from emirate local peoples۔ they are taking advantage of under developing countries forcing them to work۔ I saw cabin crew recruiting ad which was mostly from under developing countries for them its big Opportunities but you cannot find any crew from developing countries because they are well protected in case of job loss in their countries۔ many time I flew I didnot find cabin crew from well developing country۔ good luck who joins emirates airline cabin crew job۔

Hi could you do a separate video explaining how old you have to be to apply. Many of us get confused if It’s 18 or 21 ? Thanks :)
@Amanda_kingxx27 күн бұрын
Hi Lilly! I’m so sorry that’s so confusing, if you double check the Emirates cabin crew career page it says 21 years old as a requirement! If you have any other questions, check out my guide in my description - It has absolutely everything you need to know about applying for the job ✈️🫶

Hey Amanda how long is the Initial training for Emirates ? I assume you're an Austrailian so is your pay Tax free ?? Do you know of any crew members that commute ? What are the bases ??
@martacicero4338Ай бұрын
The only base with emirates is Dubai, home to ALL cabin crew & flight crew. Not much of an option from that pov, but once you join you realise why is sooo necessary for rostering and productivity purposes to all be based here! Training for CC is 2 months :) 5 days a week with weekends off

Not a very good monthly pay really, then you have to pay income tax to the ATO. What is the amount for the meal allowances in AUD?
