My hope is if Sam continues to play well throughout the year, regardless of the record, the Vikings willink him in to a two-year contract, but I also understand if he wants to go someplace else, I’m sure he has to know that he may not have the support in another place that he has in Minnesota, even if he has to compete every year with JJ McCarthy.

The run game has been huge this year. Kwesi really cooked this offseason picking up Jones, cashman, greenard, van ginkel, and turner. Also his 2 adds at DB have been huge. I think Jones has been an excellent influence on Chandler and you can see his vision continuing to improve

Man, Darnold has never produced consistency, and if that changes in MN, so be it! I'll find my peace with it! lol Deep down, I WANT Darnold to dominate this year, and maybe two more. This way, McCarthy can understudy and develop even further, and we'll get a good cap price for a couple of years after he takes over. If McCarthy becomes a high quality QB, we will have set up a strong future for the team. We all know the '90s were good, and '98 should have been ours, maybe even '09, but I feel like we're building a juggernaut... and I hope it's finally our turn!

I couldn’t agree more with the comment made about not being pressured to go with a team that won’t support you if you are a talented young quarterback. Teams like the New York Jets and the Cleveland Browns have a bad history of developing QBs. This bags the question if you are a top 10 quarterback coming out of college, maybe it’s best to stay undrafted and go and try out for the teams that you want to try out for. The best quarterback coaches in the league are Sean McVay, Kevin, O’Connell and Mike Shanahan.

I don't think the Vikes will resign him because he'll want his massive contrat and McCarthy is probably going to be ready to go. Darnold has to pick the right team that will help him out. If anything, if Darnold continues to play at a more than competent level, then Purdy may not get the contract everyone expects him to get. Darnold won’t be in Minnesota next season as McCarthy is their starter, so if he’s available as a free agent, I can see the 49ers simply going with whichever QB agrees to the more team friendly contract.
