I've been waiting for this breakdown. Can't believe he is playing even better Football than he has already been this season. Still plenty of things to work on too so lots of room to get even better.
@robe2504

That's what all these fools waiting for him to crash forget. Sam has only been with KOC, this scheme, and these WRs for 4 months. We should all be expecting him to get better as he improves his understanding of the playbook and combination with his players, especially Addison, and soon, Hockenson. I keep thinking we are watching the floor of this team, not the ceiling, and that applies doubly for the defence with 10-12 new players.

@jrunna198

@@robe2504when Hockenson comes back it’s going to be extremely scary because of the pressure he puts on defenses vertically in the seams and he’s a mismatch for most linebackers(speed) and safeties(size). Right now Johnny mundt and Josh Oliver can only really get schemed open but hock will win reps and don’t need to be schemed open. Plus he will draw double teams at times leaving things one on one with guys like JJ and Addison
@robe2504

@@jrunna198 100%. I was hoping they would survive until TJ got back, but when Addison went down, the offence looked vulnerable. I think Nailor's emergence has shifted them from being a strong playoff team to legit SB threat, even favourite if they keep improving like this. I don't think outsiders have really thought the Jettas, Addison, Hockenson, Jones/Chandler, Nailor/Oliver offence through. With KOC scheming things, the O Line improving each week, and Sam's arm talent, someone is always going to be open. I can see them putting a Giant/Texans size beat down on the Jets, and Lions after the bye. There won't be any excuses left after that. Skol!

Another point on that 3 and 1 Sam runs for a first down on. That's a locked in offense when the RB that goes out to the bottom sees Darnold rushing for the first and takes his defender away from him and even pretends to make a catch. That's flat out good coaching. To add, don't listen to these losers calling for you to cover their quarterback every week. Analyze who you want, especially when it comes to teams that unquestionably aren't doing things correctly. That's far more interesting than watching the same system QB every damn week when they've been covered a dozen times here.

He was showing this in season 4 and 5, and even in his cameos for the 49ers last season. When folks saw him as a bust, they ignored his good stuff, and blamed other players mistakes on him. Go back and watch his old stuff, remembering that good QBs glitch under pressure (e.g. Josh Allen), and check out the good stuff he has been doing for a while. Sam had to hit some tight windows to get DJ Moore the ball in Carolina. Sam made that guy some money.

@@dsabre4990 False. He was not atrocious with the Panthers. He went 8-9 there over two seasons. Baker went 1-5 when he started. Folks watched him with the preconception that he was a bust but he was throwing the ball fine. Folks point to completion rates about 58-60, but they are a terrible stat because they include things that are outside the QBs control - drops, spikes, throwaways. When Cousins went 13-4 he threw 76.5% of his passes on target, and had a completion rate of 66%. Sam went 4-2, and threw 77% of his passes on target, but only had a completion rate of 58%. That's the difference that an O Line, playcalling and quality WRs that get open and make catches can make. Sam was showing those skills in 2021 and 2022, and his two cameos for the 49ers in 2023. Sam also led the league in rushing TDs in 2021 for about half the season, that's INCLUDING all the RBs, folks just stopped watching him...

@@robe2504 Panthers 2021....59.9%, 2208 yards, 9 td's, 13 int, 71.9 QBR. That's really bad. The Panthers were not great, but had some talent around him. He is considered a "bust" because of his draft position. If he had been drafted in the 3rd round and not 3rd overall, people would say he's okay. The hype and his own comments killed him.

The #1 up top on that play is wide ass open if you throw with anticipation, which is the point of a stop/comeback. The corner is looking at the receiver, not the QB, that and him being so far off the receiver is what he should be looking for and it's there. The second he sees the corner back off he should be going there.

Sam literally led the entire league, including all 32 plus RBs, in rushing TDs for the first half of the 2021 season. I think he missed a couple of chances to rush, maybe even a TD or two, in the first 3 weeks.

These are just awesome. I just wish more Vikes fans would watch these before they get all paranoid. You can see that Sam is still missing the best read a bit, and there is so much scope for improvement as he gets more instinctive with the play book and calls. You can bet that KOC is watching all these plays, and making notes for next time. Also the pass protection is generally pretty good. There are some fans on a crusade against Ingram, but he was almost perfect in all these cuts.

@@Darnold4Prez2024 Cheers bud. I think the same. I watched Ingram, and the O Line in general in these plays too, and he was excellent. I wish the inane chatter about him and Bradbury would just stop. It's pretty clear that Kuper is happy to run with this group, and there are probably 20 teams in the league that would happily take any of them. The worst O Line play was probably Brandel and Darrisaw mixing up a stunt handoff, but they're tricky and that was a problem Ingram had in his first season too. Love the moniker, prefer him as MVP, but that's just my money talking...

It will be interesting to see how Sam responds to media praise and even MVP Chatter. He can make really nice passes, and this is by far the best version of Sam so far. He is still making too many mental mistakes covered up by the play of our WR. He has a terrible time getting the play in on time. He makes 2 or 3 throws that will leave you scratching your head every game. Usually when he is pressured or panicking. He has started taking sacks gracefully hanging onto the ball a little. He has been lucky with avoiding turnovers until the Packers second half. If he cleans all that up we can talk again MVP candidate.
@robe2504
@robe2504 Ай бұрын
False. He played this well at the Panthers. He just didn't have this calibre of play caller, O Line or WRs around him. Yeah Nah. He is making some mistakes, or imperfect reads, but fewer errors than every other QB in the league. He has been with KOC and this playbook for 4 months and 4 games. Jordan Love has been with his coach and scheme for 4 years. Getting the play in on time will come. That's not a big deal unless it's still happening in week 12. I think we should see that as a positive, because we know that it's easy to clean up and will disappear as the play calls become more instinctive to him and the team. Every QB panics and makes an occasional bad decision when under pressure, and get away with some. I think you, and many others, are bring your Jets baggage with you every time you watch Sam. His bad throw percentage (per PFR) was about 8.6% before this game, which was lower than Aaron Rodgers, so maybe let's not expect perfection from Sam, when we don't expect it from everyone else.
