This video was shot on the North East coast of England where myself and Sam Fender live. The areas are called Blyth and North Shields. Hope this helps you find out if it’s the same place as your show was filmer

The specific part that you seemed to find familiar trended on TikTok a while back. The line "I was far too scared to hit him, but I'd hit him in a heartbeat now" resonated with a lot of people.

Sam Fender is a big big name in the UK! My personal favourite of his is “Spit of You” this is too paired with a video which frankly is the best music video I’ve ever seen. So much said with no dialogue, cannot recommend this enough!

his "play god" is a masterpiece

The best song lyrically in the last 10 years from the UK - I'd agree it is a masterpiece. so underrated.

When he talks about shifting gear, it’s because the Dwp (department of work and pensions) who give out benefits to people only see her as a number and not a person trying to get out of her situation, which is breaking her down.

That makes total sense. I really dig this guy I’m gonna get into him more. I just have so much on the go right now but I promise there will be more Sam Fender reactions.

The reference 'shifting gear' is in reference to Sam considering selling drugs to help his Mum's debt, to which she 'wept'..

For me it sounds familiar because Sam is heavily influenced by American Heartland rock, like Bruce Springsteen for example, I hear a lot of Springsteen in this track. It's like he's adapted Heartland to a North East England context and sound, which is amazing. For reference the North East of England has unfortunately suffered from many of the same social and economic problems that the "Rust Belt" in the US has experienced, and that's what Springsteen talked a lot about in his music.

He is massive in the UK, the beaches are from North Shields where he is from in Northern England. You need to try Hypersonic Missiles, Getting Started, The Borders. This lad is going to the top

Honestly, you've probably heard a lot more of his stuff than you think you have, definitely if you listen to a lot of indie rock radio. His first album Hypersonic Missiles was a MASSIVE hit when it came out, and the title track got a METRIC SHIT-TON of airplay, and there are plenty of other big hits from that record too, including Play God (which is a stone cold banger), Dead Boys, Will We Talk and Borders. This new album is also absolutely brilliant, and the best track, Spit of You, is easily one of the very best he's done to date. There's definitely plenty more for you to check out.

If you like this song, check out Noah Kahan's Homesick featuring Sam Fender. They both address trying to get out of their very different hometowns. The song is great on it's own, but it's interesting to hear about Noah's small Vermont town and Sam's hard-hit English city.

@@ashlenamusic he has two number 1 selling albums hypersonic missiles and 17 going under the best tracks are thats sound - play god - dead boys - hypersonic missiles - spit of you - getting started. Both albums are great you might need to put lyrics up hes a geordie that’s a person from the north east of England and sometimes different dialect to normal English and sometimes hard to understand lol
