I was just saying this rewatching the arc. I never shipped them, but if they were going to put them together, they could've gave them at least one episode where they had functioning relationship and not just acting how they normally acted towards each other with kisses in between...and Sam definitely had her worst qualities amplified during that arc. In light of Season 3 of the iCarly reboot, the question "Then why did you kiss me?" becomes more funny in hindsight. Yes, he was asking Carly that question, and she did it for "closure", but at least it was a valid answer and excuse, even if albeit a bit silly. Sam's answer is...well, she might as well not really know. The real answer is because of shippers who wanted to see Sam and Freddy and the show's writer just sticking it in for shits and giggles. And her response basically being a lampshade of how they DIDN'T have a valid excuse. Even her "liking him" doesn't make sense given everything she's done before.

Ah, yes. The couple that singlehandedly destroyed the opposites attract type of couples for me to enjoy in entertainment. After episodes like iKiss and iReunite with Missy, I could've understood why people shipped Seddie, but after how they were portrayed in the Seddie Arc, why do people still ship these two? After Sam said that she only started liking Freddie after he got hurt, after all the petty bickering, after she abused him, after Sam sabotaged his application to go to N.E.R.D. camp, and after getting him kicked out of his toy train club, why do people ship them now? Because they're "cute," and it's funny? Young love. Young, stupid, divorce in 2 1/2 years love. 🤦🏻‍♂️

@@corimoon3360 Well from what I have seen, throughout the history of romance in entertainment, there are 3 types of couples that are portrayed: - The "Dream Come True" Couple: This is probably the most cliché type of couple of all time. It's basically where a guy falls in love with a girl, (or vise versa) then they just get together and "they all lived happily ever after." They tried to make different spins on this over the years from it being a handsome and brave prince/knight coming to the rescue of a beautiful princess trapped in a castle guarded by a dragon, to having the girl be "hard to get," or the guy be an absolute dream of the girl. It's really cliché to the point that making fun of this is cliché. - There's the "perfect chemistry" couple, which is probably the most realistic couple portrayed in media. They go from being friends, to best friends, to being in love. - Then, there's the opposites attract couples. They start out with two people constantly at each other's throats for an extensive amount of time. Then, they put their differences aside, and then through character development, eventually fall in love. This was probably the worst portrayal of the latter of the 3, for a few major reasons: 1) This entire arc took place AFTER the episode iStart a Fan War; an episode that was trying to tell the fans of iCarly that they shouldn't get caught up in the shipping thing. It's nice and fun to think about, but that's not what iCarly is about. 2) The way the Seddie Arc was portrayed was probably about as disrespectful as you could be towards Seddie shippers. They wasted two whole episodes of getting the two together, and then spent 3 episodes pounding it into the ground why they're an awful couple. Honestly, if I were a Seddie Shipper, I would probably hate the Seddie Arc even more, because as a shipper, I would've wanted to see them portrayed as an actual good couple; not how they were portrayed. 3) Neither Sam nor Freddie changed at all. Not for the better of their relationship, anyways. Usually, the way this couple is properly portrayed is having one character change into a similar personality as the other character. They ultimately work by evolving from an opposites attract couple to a perfect chemistry couple. Seasons 5 and 6 particularly were not good seasons for Sam as a character. She went from being a mischievous rebel to a straight up sociopath. 4. This could be very damaging for any kid growing up, because their abusive portrayal can send the message that that's what you're supposed to do in a relationship. This country is already suffering enough of a rise in domestic abuse and divorce cases. I don't think we need to put any more gasoline on the fire. No, this story arc specifically isn't the reason why there's so much divorce and domestic abuse today, but it's the logic behind the Seddie Arc that has affected relationships nowadays. 5. I'm sure you're probably one of those people that dismisses all of the other first 4 points by saying that this was supposed to be funny. If that's the case, then the Seddie Arc is in the same boat as the Family Guy episode, Screams of Silence: The Story of Brenda Q. Even if you defend that this entire arc wasn't meant to be taken seriously, you need to consider who this show was intended for: children. They may take things more seriously than more mature audiences. Needless to say, if you don't have a problem with the Seddie Arc or Seddie specifically, that's totally fine. It's your opinion, and you're entitled to it, but that's my thoughts to spill on this.
