I saw this video, and I agree with Sam that concoction they made up sounded disgusting because of the green dye after so many takes, it really made him feel sick. I felt so annoyed when I read what had happened. Sam is such an easy going guy, it takes a lot to anger him. Bravo for Sam standing up for himself.

The line wasn’t dumb in the book. It was said at a different time in the storyline and Claire was still semi-conscious. The way the show presented it changed the timing of the line and it made less sense. 🤷‍♀️

Gabaldon is weird, I don't like her. I don't mind reading her books. I know the series was based on the books, but I got to know the story through the series during the pandemic and it was through Cait's performance and her chemistry with Sam that I fell in love with Outlander and, some things I already knew the series is different from the books I preferred how the plot was shown in the series in relation to the books so, I still don't miss the books, apart from when she gives interviews or is together with the cast in Panels and Comicons, her comments are always unnecessary and even some disrespectful to Sam about his physique. Aside from the kiss on the lips she gave Sam when he went to greet her on one of the panels, she took advantage, I think, that Cait hadn't attended this event and kind of grabbed him, completely abused and disrespectful.

The line was written by Diana Gabaldon not the writers of the series. It makes perfect sense in the book. Claire isn't unconcious for a start. The series is great. I love it but the writers and Directors did screw up a few things IMO.

Maybe it’s just me, but ‘If you die, I’ll kill you’ is a very Midwestern phrase. It’s SUPPOSED to sound ridiculous, and is often spouted in a moment of tension or frustration to unconsciously blow off steam, The whole point is ‘don’t do something dumb and get yourself hurt’. I’ve heard variations from my friends and family countlessly over the years, and reading it in Voyager gave me a moment to smile and appreciate the sentiment. So please, don’t go trying to apply ‘common sense’ to situations that are asking for more depth than that.

@@coradejong1014 Well, I'm not from the mid west, nor am I from the States. I have, however, read the books and the line works. It doesn't work as well in the show and I understand perhaps why the actor didn't want to say it. The writers messed up a few things IMO. One of the worst was Jamie branding himself. He didn't do that. Jack Randall did it. By changing that they lost the use of a great line a few pages on where Jamie wants the brand cut out. He says something like "I'll have to wear the scars he put on me all my life but I'll not have him sign me like a bloody painting. "

As for the first issue he had with the line he did not like; I have heard "if you die, get killed, or get yourself killed I will kill you" so many times I can not remember. It is sarcastic humor. It is a sarcastic way of saying "don't you dare die on me." He may think it is stupid, but that is only his opinion. And in the end he is an employee doing a job for his employer; he signed a contract to do a job regardless of his opinion.

Yeah. I was a newspaper reporter who went on a lot of live criminal and other scenes. Once, I was sent out to hook my back to the front of an actual skydiver, and jump out of a plane 2 miles off the ground. That's all a load of rubbish about the ship scenes being shot in a parking lot. 🤬🤬I live in Cape Town South Africa and it was shot at Cape Town Film Studios on real ships. 🚣‍♂️The ships weren't in water and were located on tarmac surface. They are designed to make them look like they were on the ocean. Blacksails were also shot there before Outlander. I think that they did a wonderful job and Sam praised CT Film studio
