I think everyone needs to chill out. Everyone is having a fit about how this is not "country," but yet this guy has written several songs for other country artists that people have deemed "country" enough. So what if Sam Hunt decides to play and sing his songs a little more "pop country" while the other artists have sung his songs more "old country?" He's still country. There is a big difference between the 90's country I grew up on and today's country, but music changes. There's a big difference between rock of the 80's and current rock too...and same with rap. You all are just going to have to accept that.

Bryce Baty Yes it is. Music evolves with the times as well as Country. Just like Carrie Underwood, she too was accused of not being 'Country Enough'. Sam Hunt is a Country Artist even if you don't like his brand of Country. He is what country music needed (IMO). An Artists with crossover appeal that can attract not only country fans but pop as well (and quite hawt) Just because he isn't twanging in every song doesn't means he isn't country. He has improved on the Country sound IMO.

It’s sort of country. what makes it country is the sound. it’s a pop song with a country influenced sound which what makes it country pop and more on the pop side of that sub-genre. For it to be country music’s country pop, the lyrics need to be just normal country lyrics with a pop influenced country sound
