5 years ago I helped a woman out of the relationship with her partner and father of their little girl. He was a heroin addict. Helping her, I fell in love with her, we fell in love and I took care of the little girl as if she were my own daughter. I remember listening to this song at that time. Unfortunately, we broke up in 2017. My heart never started beating again, but I am happy to have helped her and her daughter. Now they are calm and happy.

This was the last song I ever heard my father sing before he died and dedicated this song to him. Just a few days ago I heard this song on the radio and saw my initials on the car in front of me and knew he was with me. May he Rest In Peace. I could never ask for a better father than him. I miss him everyday. I love you Dad!

I am rooting for you and your kids! I was in a very abusive relationship for about 8 years. I left more than 7 years ago best decision for me and my 2 boys. I left early on in their early years so they wouldnt be so scared and would pick it up just like him. They are the most respectful kids ever now. But MOMMA you are doing the best it was by far the best decision i did for myself and kids.

Take your kiddos out for park walks and hiking trails near you guys take in what you survived and from there god will order all your steps lots of lessons to be learned and he will show you what you are here on earth to do for him. My heart goes out to everyone in abusive situations. It’s a complicated life & for many it’s easy to point fingers & judge BUT no one knows what the victims are going through. Victims need love, hope & help! For you people that have been fortunate enough to get out of the situation, congratulations & I hope you have a wonderful life now! You should be proud 😁

This is so powerful. When he saved her I literally started crying. Just to think that there are girls going through that around the world hits me so hard. I can't even imagine how great it must feel to finally get away. To all of the girls, and even guys, who go through this kind of thing everyday I really hope you find your escape one day and they get the punishment they deserve. No human being deserves that kind of treatment.

Rodolfo Turla please do not stereotype it. No girl or guy goes into a relationship to get abused. A man/woman can easily be super sweet and disguise that part of himself/herself for a long time. There's a reason why so many get away with it and are able to draw so many of the other gender in. & the fact that you are sitting here commenting that its the girls fault makes me wonder how many other people are brainwashed by that stereotype. Sure, maybe in some cases it can be like that but don't be so close minded about it.
@haskikel099 жыл бұрын
Rodolfo Turla don't you dare stereotype. My mom's 2nd husband was an abuser and it wasn't until they were married that he snapped and then went after my mom, sister and I. It took me years to move on from the pain and finally feel safe again.

I always will appreciate anyone who has been abused in anyway especially men. Some people don't care about what men go through. A lot of people but not all often think then men are bad guys but often the men are also get hurt themselves. My guy friend that I love has just got out of a relationship last month thanks to a girl who cheated on him even worse than cheating he found out his girlfriend was married and had 2 kids. I want to be his girlfriend but I don't want to push it even though he says he loves me more than there are words in the dictionary but I am giving him some time to heal. No one knows more about his rough past he has had like I do. He said that he is not really open about his past with anyone but me. He is open with me because he says I am a good person and have good vibes.

I like the fact that the video didn't just play a scene about a guy approaching a girl at a bar. I like the fact that while she didn't even know he was there, he noticed her. He didn't meet her mother or go home with her, but he did something so much better. He was her savior. I think that this concept works so well with the lyrics. Its about true genuine human care, and doesn't involve any of the "lets go back to my place" stuff that you hear all the time nowadays. It is literally just straight up human love, caring for someone else, and just spending time with people. I think the world needs more of this.

It's about someone who isn't available for a relationship, but he don't care. He wants to spend time with her and build her up, 'cause he loves that girl. He didn't expect anything, but he waits. Maybe forever.. It's sad that you found the perfect girl and someone else fucked her soul up. Too many good girls screwed by bad men. EDIT: Wrote it from one perspective, but it is also the other way around. It doesn't matter if you are men, female, hetero, gay, black, white, Christian, Muslim and go on with the list. At the end of the day we all want to be safe and to loved.

Mostly when they are 30+, having 3 kids, going trough a lot of pain and loneliness in their 20s. Then they got the insight that the addicition of bad guys will only led to despair. But yeah it takes a long time to fix the cracks and earn their trust and let them feel beloved and wanted. I never understand why people will destruct thereself in a relationship and keep stuggeling to make it work, but hey love makes blind. It's like Stephen Chbosky wrotes in his book The Perks of Being a Wallflower: "We accept the love, we think we deserve". When you think bad of yourself, then you attract bad people and when you know what you are worth, then you stop giving people discounts! Have a good time all of you, feel beloved and make the people around you feel beloved. Sharing is caring!

Lyrics don't know if you were looking at me or not You probably smile like that all the time And I don't mean to bother you but I couldn't just walk by And not say hi And I know your name 'Cause everybody in here knows your name And you're not looking for anything right now So I don't wanna come on strong But don't get me wrong Your eyes are so intimidating My heart is pounding but It's just a conversation No, girl, I'm not wasted You don't know me I don't know you but I want to And I don't wanna steal your freedom I don't wanna change your mind I don't have to make you love me I just want to take your time I don't wanna wreck your Friday I ain't gonna waste my lines I don't have to take your heart I just wanna take your time And I know it starts with hello And the next thing you know you try to be nice And some guys getting too close Trying to pick you up Trying to get you drunk And I'm sure one of your friends is about to come over here 'Cause she's supposed to save you from random guys That talk to much and wanna stay too long It's the same old song and dance but I think you know it well You coulda rolled your eyes Told me to go to hell Coulda walked away But you're still here And I'm still here Come on let's see where it goes I don't wanna steal your freedom I don't wanna change your mind I don't have to make you love me I just wanna take your time I don't have to meet your mother We don't have to cross that line I don't wanna steal your covers I just wanna take your time I don't wanna go home with you, woah-ooh-oh, oh I just wanna be alone with you I don't wanna steal your freedom I don't wanna change your mind I don't have to make you love me I just wanna take your time I don't wanna blow your phone up I just wanna blow your mind I don't have to take your heart I just wanna take your time No, I ain't gotta call you baby And I ain't gotta call you mine I don't have to take your heart I just wanna take your time

He helps me a lot in times of trouble, and is an underrated singer and deserves to be in the Country Hall of Fame. If you help someone without expecting anything or having an arterial motivate behind it; it will always work out good. Some women don't recover from an abusive relationship. When a good man comes along they don't know what too do or how to trust again. They look for the same things in this good man that happened with the bad man. I made the mistake one time of choosing to settle down again after my son's father passed.. what a mess. I am not sure what or who was at fault. I lost everything and I am just picking of the pieces. I have my son left. He is just so beautiful & vocal and I mean very vocal in his opinions. This makes this hard to date, which is fine. I will choose my son everytime. It will take someone out of this world to get the 2 of us, They I imagine would need to have the patience of Job and the understanding of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John with a twist of the HOLY SPIRIT with JESUS & GOD. WITH A SIDE OF MARY!

+Eva Eva i dislikes vengono dai fan di musica country tradizionale (ebbene si, questa canzone è musica country contemporanea). +HipHopEnthusiast ignore them this is country. Sure it is a different sound from what you typically hear, but its roots are country and there is a R&B crossover, but that will become more common in country as the younger artists are growing up in a time where almost everyone listens to and even enjoys rap a little bit.

What a beautiful song and voice Sam has. There are men like this song sings about. I met one in 2001, after finding the courage to leave an abusive relationship. He gave me time to heal, supported my independence, life goals, loved me unconditionally and respected me. He still does, and is now my husband, and father of our 3 children. I asked God to bring me a man deserving of my love and he sure did that. 🥰❤ I'm very blessed.

In my opinion, this song is not about domestic violence. This song isn't even about controlling relationships, and how difficult it is to leave. No, the situation in the video was just an extreme example of the message Sam Hunt is trying to portray. In my eyes, this song is simply about being a human being before being a lover. Wanting to help someone because you CARE, not because you want a significant other (or just want to get in their pants). Our society today is so revolved around having a boyfriend or a girlfriend. I don't get it. Even when a child is as young as 12 or 13, they can feel the pressure from their peers to start dating! It's insane. And then in your late 20s and 30s, it's about the pressure to get married. And then people ask if you've thought about having children yet. And then you want to start screaming and running, because everyone's trying to tell you how to live your life, even if they're not coming out directly and saying it. Our lives are moving so quickly that we are jumping to the destination before even starting the journey. But why? Why do you need to have a boyfriend by 14? Why are you a loser if you haven't gotten your first kiss by 18? Why do you get judged when an unexpectedly pregnancy occurs and you don't get married? Why? What's the rush? At the same time... why do we ignore people who clearly need help? Why don't we intervene? "Sorry I have to go to work." "Sorry I have to get home." "Sorry I have a kid in the car." "Sorry I have a party to go to." "Sorry, someone else will do it." ... When do the excuses run out? When do we stop and take our time? The message in this song is to slow down. Enjoy life. Enjoy people. Help people for the sake of being a good person. Take your time, because you may miss the most important and defining moments of your life (or someone else's life) if you don't.
@sweetvixen59 жыл бұрын
heartofmyangell Although I do not totally agree with you when it comes to the message of this song (I took he lyrics very literally and to me it's more about being able to be there for and with someone, in the simplest way - no strings attached) I do think you have a point. We are indeed living in a very fast paced society where one cannot simply enjoy the present moment; whether we are conscious about it or not, it often comes down to your love/marital status which is used to determine what you have accomplished in life... How about we take a step back and take a deep breath?
@jaimeemcd9 жыл бұрын
I got that from it too. People don't just have conversations or get to know one another anymore without a motive. People are too busy trying to "hook up" instead of enjoying each other's company.

To the person that reads this, I ask the Lord to bless them and their family, to cure them of every sickness and pain, to fill their emptiness with love joy and peace, to rebuke the enemy from their lives. " ASK JESUS TO COME INTO YOUR HEART AND SAVE YOU, AND TO FORGIVE YOU OF YOUR SINS, FOR WE GIVE THANKS AND GLORY TO THE LORD. IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS CHRIST AMEN!

It used to be. The radio is trash nowadays because of streaming services, Spotify, Apple music, KZbin etc. I grew up with the great songs of the 2000s and 2010s. Now I play the radio and there's nothing good anymore.

This was a really well done music video. This is the first time I’ve seen it and it’s not at all what I imagined given the lyrics. I work with women who are in this exact same situation for a living. Mainly helping them access resources once they are able to leave the abusive relationship so that they and their children find safety and stability. But for every mother and child that manages to make a life of their own, there are just as many if not more that don’t get a happy ending. Most of the time she doesn’t make it to the truck and the boyfriend/husband doesn’t walk away licking his wounds. It’s a sad reality

Still one of my favorite songs. The video hurts my heart. No one else would like that. I suffered domestic abuse myself, mental and physical. But I got out. Raised three sons. Now I have nine grandkids and a great grandson.❤❤❤

TAKE YOUR TIME I don't know if you were looking at me or not You probably smile like that all the time And I don't mean to bother you but I couldn't just walk by And not say hi And I know your name 'Cause everybody in here knows your name And you're not looking for anything right now So I don't wanna come on strong But don't get me wrong Your eyes are so intimidating My heart is pounding but It's just a conversation No girl I'm not gonna waste it You don't know me I don't know you but I want to And I don't wanna steal your freedom I don't wanna change your mind I don't have to make you love me I just want to take your time I don't wanna wreck your Friday I ain't gonna waste my lines I don't have to take your heart I just wanna take your time And I know it starts with hello And the next thing you know you're trying to be nice And some guys getting too close Trying to pick you up Trying to get you drunk And I'm sure one of your friends is about to come over here 'Cause she's supposed to save you from random guys That talk too much and wanna stay too long It's the same old song and dance but I think you know it well You could have rolled your eyes Told me to go to hell Could have walked away But you're still here And I'm still here Come on let's see where it goes I don't wanna steal your freedom I don't wanna change your mind I don't have to make you love me I just wanna take your time I don't have to meet your mother We don't have to cross that line I don't wanna steal your covers I just wanna take your time Woah, I don't wanna go home with you Woah, I just wanna be alone with you I don't wanna steal your freedom I don't wanna change your mind I don't have to make you love me I just wanna take your time And I don't wanna blow your phone up I just wanna blow your mind I don't have to take your heart I just wanna take your time No, I ain't gotta call you baby And I ain't gotta call you mine I don't have to take your heart I just wanna take your time, oh
