This is insane for sure, but the part about the second commandment is pretty interesting. In Platos perfect society there is no art, no poetry, no pictures, no secondhand representations of anything. One of my dogs watches TV sometimes, and I wasnt sure what he could understand or not. He freaks out and barks ANY time theres a dog on the screen, even just like very tiny in the corner of the frame sleeping or something, and he hates horses too (after he saw that sport where the horses dance around, it was during the olympics, dressage maybe?). I started to feel bad letting him see TV, since he probably doesnt understand whats real or not, and because I dont want him to think "oh, a dog I can play with, why wont it play with me?". Taking that a little further, its probably not good for anyone to watch TV or any fictional representations of anything for similar reasons, longing for things that arent real or learning things that dont really happen. Schizophrenics are the most interesting people possible.
