I love how Sam Raimi brings about his answers. He has a voice with soothing mannerisms. 3D is a terrible thing because studios are refusing to make movies now if the director won't do it in 3D. They did it w/ Star Trek Into Darkness. I know that only because he said it in an interview. I wouldn't be surprised if there have been more cases like that. I've heard that people in SXSW have run out of the theatre crying, and many people terrified because they can't take Evil Dead all the way through!

I loved Oz the great and powerful, another Raimi classic in my book. Interestingly I thought Oz had a very similar structure to Raimi's Army of Darkness.

Sam's description of 3D is 100% accurate. It's only for certain movies. The studios have tried to splash it all over every big blockbuster every year. Ruining the experience. Great guy to interview as well.

I think it's safe to say that Sam knew that, as the water melting witches thing gets referenced in his movie. He just seems to have misspoke.

I loved Sam Raimi's reaction to 3D. "It strains my eyes." Yes same here Sam. I am hoping this will be like Return to OZ. I am just unconvinced.

Cannot believe that Raimi thinks Dorothy threw a bucket of "acid" at the wicked witch! Has he never seen The Wizard of Oz? Although beautiful and I enjoyed all the references in Raimi's film, Franco was completely miscast.
