He manages to give structure, shape and a captivating voice to him, to make that his imperfections look perfect, to velvet his brutalities, to empower his weaknesses, to reveal his pains through those eyes that speak. I remember watching the first scene of Sam/Lestat when he meets Louis and thinking yesss.. I'm in love and I couldn't believe how perfect and good he was as Lestat and how in Gods name, he will do to keep that level of perfection during the series but he did!!! I just keep being in awe of his performance everytime I watched him. Sam is a very talented & special man.

Same. Everyone has Louis as the victim of the relationship, but I think Lestat loved Louis way more than Louis loved him. The look he gave Louis after "desperately fragile ", so much emotion.

Rescued from the cutting room floor, made the editor of the episode cry and the others he showed it to, but the audio from the scene had plane and train noises in the background, called in a request to the audio people, audio department cleaned up the sound and put this one take performance by Sam back in the episode. Perfection.

his acting is actually all subtext... listening to this beautiful speech, I can see Lestat's journey from Europe to New Orleans, how and why he fell in love with the city, how he discovered Louis and fell in love with him, how he knows that they plan to kill him and he is somehow begging him to let him live because he deserves to be alive... this is absolute perfection

Damn you, Lestat! He caused Louis and Claudia such pain but I felt for him because the entire time he's speechifying he's searching Louis' face like, "Is he really going to go through with this?" Lestat deserved it but man was hurt that Louis was really proceeding.

That's the thing with Lestat even when I hated him in the books I found him endearing because for all his bravado,charisma,magnetism,sexyness and cruelty .he's still longing for love, companionship and still has fear of abandonment..

He did and he didn't. A lot of the troubles they faced they did so because they chose not to heed his warning's. Even if he is a bit abrasive I would listen to the vampire with 100+ years more experience than me.

I knew Sam Reid was an incredible actor when I first saw him in The Newsreader. He was amazing alongside Anna Torv. I knew then he was one of “those” actors- like Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett and Edward Norton. So I’m blown away by his performance as my favourite Brat Prince but not surprised he could deliver such a deep and realistic performance of him. Sam should be placed with the same calibre of actors as Streep and co.

It still catches me off guard how beautiful Jacob is in a wig & makeup. Also, that Sam does not shine prettily in the opposite direction. Sans, makeup aside from the scene, Sam is luminous. But when he's made to look like he's wearing makeup, his features are more harsh. Online their height descriptions put them more than 6" apart but that can't be. Sam is taller but does not tower over everyone. The talen on this show is so good! I'm obsessed. I can hear my own heart dancing! ❤❤❤❤❤😊

Sam Reid did an amazing job playing Lestat b/c he took French and Italian lessons and voice lessons and played the piano he did his homework and he was better than Tom Cruise and at least Sam Reid read all of Anne Rice's books. This is so good and he song Come To Me is really amazing****

It's unfair to compare to TC..his time and material Lestat was limited to a 2 hr series .maybe if it was miniseries or a 3 1/2 movie maybe he could do more,explore me.For me Lestat is TC cause I've envisioned him since I read the book in '97.Even Anne Rice approved after seeing him.But Sam Reid is spectacular and has advantage interm of time,material and also the century..21st century tv ,more explicit scenes can be shown and also the vampire craze that stated with Twilight,Vampire Diaries,TrueBlood,

Tom Cruise read all the books, and he took voice and piano lessons. Both prepared a lot for the role. The mediums are different and the actors have different techniques. Tom did a great job in the Neil Jordan film where we see much more of Louis’ bitterness coloring the description of Lestat. A different script and a different Lestat. Sam’s Lestat is much richer because we know from the beginning that Louis is an unreliable narrator and Sam plays the scenes two ways. On 1st watch it is always true to Louis’ POV but then when you look again, you see the signs that something very different is happening on Lestat’s side of the interaction. I think Sam is exquisite in this part. Sam’s work also makes me appreciate Tom’s work in a new way. Kirsten Dunst’s Claudia is also so very different that it makes you see how the series format serves the book in transformative ways. That being said, Jacob and Eric wipe the floor with the Pitt and Slater performances of the same characters.

Claudia was their child, it's on them how she turned out tbh. She is stuck in a teenager's body for all eternity, of course she has issues. But even Lestat himself admits she is more like himself than anything.

Well let’s pause. Because initially Claudia wasn’t as vindictive as she turned out. And in a sense, she was looking out for Louis so her plan to kill Lestat was because she saw how Lestat continues to hurt Louis and yet, Louis endures it. But it’s on Lestat AND Louis on how Claudia’s fate turned out to be what it was because of a few main points. - She wasn’t supposed to be made in the first place (Louis) - Lestat’s way of vampirism was toxic and he could’ve taught her another way of living and just let go of a little of his violent tendencies - Both of them, like so many parents, weren’t ready for a child. Let alone a frozen in time vampire child who would never develop enough to rationalize with her curiosity
