Sometimes I think that people really misunderstand Lestat because they don’t understand what happens to a child who is abused the way he was. At first I thought I was weird or needed help because I could so easily understand him, and what he does. Eventually I realized that Lestat, and Stan and Anne Rice, and I all share a very important common trait:Trauma. Unhealed, patched up, scarred, dressed up, covered up, disguised, defended wounds. I think that is what draws Louis and Lestat together, but it is also what tears them apart. Louis can not understand Lestat because he doesn’t allow himself to be vulnerable with Louis, because he’s afraid.

@@multifandomedits2024 I understand the reasons Lestat behaves the way that he does, but that doesn’t mean I excuse it. And even more so for Armand (if you’re a book reader). I was raped and exploited by my father as a kid, and relate a lot to some of both character’s toxic traits, but people have every right to dislike those characters for their actions. They are both abusive, Armand extremely so, and the things they did brought trauma upon others.

I don't know if I'm the only one who saw this or felt this, but... at the end, the Lestat "death" scene. I genuinely think that Lestats monumentally terrible choice, in the moment. Is what finally decides that not only does Lestat need to die, but that Louis himself will do it, with his own hands. I haven't seen anyone yet, really talk about it... In the scene, Lestat puts Louis in a choke-hold and forcibly holds him there, as he essentially says we're (him & Antionette) are gonna kill Claudia, and she will replace Claudia in their life. In their family. Lestat was literally intending to not only kill Claudia, but he was gonna make Louis watch her die. Then Louis was going to just be forced to live with Antionette being 'part' of them, their relationship. I think that was a bigger 'wake up' moment, for Louis, than Claudia could've ever accomplished. So once again, Lestats inability to make the right choice, is his own downfall. Like I really do think, if Antionette didn't enter the picture, and it was just Claudia kills Lestat. I think Louis would've stopped her. He would've just broken down and stopped her. And I also think, even if it was still; Antionette was introduced and Lestat still had the plan of making her part of their family... if Lestat had instead made a deal essentially with Louis, a 'we'll let her leave, let her be free to go wherever she wants to, completely unharmed. And we stay together and we try again, with Antionette' I think for Claudias sake, and for him being able to keep Lestat. I think Louis would have done it. But in that moment, ultimately Lestats very poor choice, literally created the outcome. So once again, Lestat is his own worst enemy. He destroys what he most holds dear, because he just can't help himself.
@jordanparker657
@jordanparker657 Жыл бұрын
Well said, though I think Louis under no circumstance would have stayed with Lestat and Antoinette. He might have made the deal for Claudia to leave but he would have left soon after because he has no use for Antoinette. And he certainly wouldn't be satisfied having Lestat's mistress of years in his house. Just my opinion. And Jacob said "Louis would be like, her".
@RowensARTstudio
@RowensARTstudio Жыл бұрын
@@jordanparker657 I agree and disagree at the same time. Because one thing about Louis, and I know it's one of the many reasons why Lestat was/is so attracted to him, as his eternal companion... is that Louis has a damn near limitless supply of acceptance and endurance. I think if he really thought it was the only way he could keep Lestat, while allowing Claudia to not only live, but to be free. He would have agreed to it, and at the very least tried. But I personally don't think, for any of them involved, I don't think it would've worked. Antionette wouldn't've lasted long at all. Not only was Lestat clearly already bored of her, and was just using her at this point as a tool, or a pawn. But you could tell that Antionette hated/despised Louis, for the the place he held. He was Lestats world, an over-encompassing and unrelenting love that she would never get. I think she literally wouldn't have been able to cohabitate with Louis at all, and Lestat would have killed her (because he'll always choose Louis) or Louis would have demanded he kill her. To punish both her and Lestat, and Lestat would do it without a second thought. Simply because Louis wanted it, and asked with his own mouth. So I don't think Louis would have left, and clearly Lestat would not have let him leave... But I think Antionette would have just got GOT, with a quickness. I mean to be honest, even if some sort of deal was made to allow Claudia to leave but Louis stays, I genuinely don't see Antionette living past that night regardless. Because Claudia had her own reasons to hate her. And I wouldn't put it past her to do exactly what she did. Stomp her head in, then toss her "on the grill". Then leave. Basically, Antionette had overstayed her usefulness to Lestat and was completely unwelcomed by everyone involved 🤷‍♀

@@RowensARTstudio I love a long response, it's like getting a letter. Thank you. Starting from the end, I think you're right, Claudia was offing Antoinette no matter what.😜🤗 Are you saying you think Louis would have agreed to have Antoinette in their home and then insist Lestat do her in? And just stayed with him? You don't think he could sneak away and rejoin Claudia? Again, you're right Louis forgiveness and acceptance is too much. Truth is no matter how far he went Lestat would fi d him or he would miss so much he'd find Lestat. Endgame ♥️🧡♥️🤗😘 Maybe I shouldn't, they're so toxic, but I look forward to their reunion. 🌟⭐️🌟

@Jordan Parker65 I talk way too much about this show😅 But I can't help, currently still a passion for me, I'm still obsessed... I definitely believe regardless of Louis actual choice, I don't think anything would've stopped Claudia from killing Antionette. She seemed to hate her worse then even Louis. If I think too hard about it, I can actually see some envy and jealousy there on Claudia's behalf. Her hate for Antipnetts seemed more personal by the end, then just in defense of Louis... I think Louis himself would have snapped and just taken her out. And I think that's exactly what Lestat would've wanted. He didn't care about Antionette, especially near the end. He clearly was very much "done" with her himself, and only turned her as a means to an end. The end being getting Louis back. So I definitely think he would've have seem Louis killing her, as a twisted sign of love for him. It would show him that Louis cares enough to want Lestat all to himself. I don't think, if Louis made the choice or deal to stay with Lestat... I don't think he'd be able to "sneak" away, this adaption of Lestat really wouldn't have it. And he'd be back to having only Louis to focus all his attention on. I also don't think Louis would, because then it would completely undo the whole reason for staying in the first place. And would have Lestat after them both again, to get Louis. Putting Claudia back in danger. Last but certainly not least, there's nothing wrong with wanting to see them endgame. That's what is literally in the books. I don't know if you've read them, but they always come back together in nearly every book. Even though Lestat himself does have other lovers, Louis remains his main love, his soulmate. They literally cannot live without eachother. When Louis thinks he'd lost Lestat he literally leaves himself in the sun to die. Lestat wakes up from a comatose state that he's been in for years, to save his life. And when they get to him, and Lestat thinks he might be too burned to save he can't go on. Without Louis Lestat simply wouldn't choose to love anymore, the will would leave him completely. And Lestats will to live and refusal to die, is why he's so damn hard to kill... But yeah, they do end up together and meaning to stay together, for the rest of eternity in the last VC book Anne Rice published. And both Rolin Jones and everyone else involved in this serie, all want them endgame. And more of a focal point to the series, then they even were in the books. And the studio agrees. They want 10 seasons, with Loustat being the main couple. I don't know if we'll get all 10, but I definitely hope so 😉🖤

I think we were disarmed with LeStat’s romance & ability to see Louis, who is surrounded by bigotry & judgement no matter what what he does, simply because he is Black. BUT. LeStat is the Killer. There is more than a little resemblance to the Blood of Christ & Blond Jesus than some of us might care to admit.

@Dark Gift OK Fellas... Sam, Jacob. First, allow me to preface by saying that I understand the need, at times; to tell a generalized story especially in regard to actual source material: the VC's. Stories that I have reveled in since their original publishings. One of you made a remark here about how inconsistent our Dear Brat Prince is, but I cannot agree. Any fan of these stories knows FULL WELL is that he IS consistent in his actions, ideas, mannerisms and even his maddening sense his impulsiveness. Anyone in HIS world knows all this. He is perfectly consistent with being a rule-breaker and just that reminds me of how Marius admonishes him for being ".. the damndest creature," albeit with a wink and a nod "a la Marius." Also, he has never been dishonest about it. "Call me a dog, but an honest dog," and in his best way, he IS! As for Miss Thing, Antoinette, this is also part of his basic nature, even since before Magnus kidnaps him from his and Nicki's room in Paris. He just needs to be known, somehow; which after he's changed and orphaned by Magnus, begins to realize just how lonely this "life" might be for him. And after all, he is still so in-love with humanity. But, baiting Louis like that outside the cheap hotel (the very idea!) room is truly and totally inconsistent with Lestat's behavior... in the purest of contexts. Anyway, being a purist about my most cherished tales, the changes to this story that have been set down I will NOT deny for a moment infuriated me! I mean really, the very idea that Louis would be the owner of nearly TEN cat houses? Black man, white man or not! It would've been in the poorest of tastes. For me the "let's take a classic tale and distort the shit out of it" began with me with both the original Interview film where they even managed to fuck up translation from the book to the film, then BS Dracula my absolute favorite novel and one I've read about 40 times and now to this. As for that tragedy that was the QotD movie? Not even gonna bother with THAT dumpster fire! I had hoped that if this endeavor with Anne's stories were ever re- attempted that the best were cast and I've enjoyed everyone especially the older Claudia. Surprisingly But, BUT... I was hoping beyond all hope that the right man would be cast for my Lestat. So Sam, I am THRILLED you got the nod! After only the first two episodes, it was very, VERY clear to me that you not only know at least some of this body of work (at least books 1 & 2), but I suspect that you may be a true fan of our boy and the books, as well. Before the first episode was finished, you and you alone had produced a flood of tears that I haven't known in a long time. I've loved every moment of your performance and my most favorite Easter egg moment is when y'all are trying to figure out to where you should relocate. When Greece was mentioned and Lestat whispers "Those Who Must Be Kept" with that tortured look on your face? Well, it broke my heart for him all over again. I can only hope someone might see my comment here and let you know, that of your "Interview" fans, no one else could be more happy than me. Have fun and be well as you can, Aszneth (PS: Sam, I'm sure many have said something already, but I've gotta say it too. Your beautiful, luscious & perfectly grabable ass says to me nothing but "please bite n kiss me all night long!" Mm! You ever need any of that, you just let me know Hotstuff!) 🤭🥰💘💋💋💋

Louis for me was more cruel than Lestat bcuz he withholds the very things Lestat saw in him. 1. Viscousness, Lestat 1st encounter with Louis was when he pulled a knife on his own brother Paul. Vulnerability the need to take care of his family whether his Toxic mother understood the aborhent conditions of securing finances for the family or not. Tenderness. The gentlness and Tenderness Louis poured into his Brother Paul, his sister and Claudia. When Lestat proposed to turn Louis he asked Louis to pour all of his hate n Love into him n he will turn right round n pour it into him. But all Louis offered n gave Lestat was obedient LOYALTY. LOUIS betrayed and used Lestat way more than Lestat used Louis. Louis used Lestat for power, money, protection, freedom, status.. Until Claudia. Claudia was vicious and angry. Even if she had Louis all to herself she would've still turned on him. Bcuz she hated being an eternal child. Louis is a manipulative LIAR. He pulled a knife on his own brother to convince others of his toughness. He stays in a perpetual SURVIVAL MODE. Lestat didnt fear death. Louis does. That's why he stays connected to stronger n more powerful vamps ARMAND. Not bcuz of Love. Bcuz his fear of Death.

i don't agree with that...but, why does everyone want and love Louis so much if what you say is true (except his mother)...also, Louis was held back because of his race and not allowed to live up to his full potential as a businessman...he had so show strength or he would have been eliminated by the others who where also very much power hungry and wanted control...he was smarter and viewed as arrogant because he had the skill and cunning to socialize at various events where other of the same race could not (that's why he always showed that "yes sir massa sir" personality to appease the people in charge in order to get a small slice of the pie)...he was good looking, and a smart businessman and well educated and bilingual, speaking fluent French and English which is why so many were drawn to his magnetism..
