I feel Sam intended the meaning of the song to indicate that the feeling of love is ones personal nirvana. When you are around that person it is as if they make you high, but being that his love was unrequited his songs often have a hint of rejection to them. I love Sam Smith, his music made me feel like I was not alone. Every time I put my headset on and listened to his voice my sorrow would melt away as if I could almost share my burden with him. His music has become my personal release, my happy place and for that I adore him.

I haven't been moved by a voice this way since I first heard Freddy Mercury. Seriously Sam doesn't even sing a genre that typically appeals to me but he is so good that it draws me in.
