I’m not a fan of TS, maybe not everyone there were fans of Taylor but the vibes were totally different than with Liam. I don’t see why it would be confusing for your students to learn that there are several definitions for the word “they”; all it’s doing is helping your students learn more about the English language. The word “they” has been used as a singular pronoun for a long time (not just for non-binary people, also in other contexts, like when you don’t know the gender of the person being discussed). Also, if some of your students are trans or non-binary, seeing their teacher be supportive could actually help them be more comfortable in their gender identity. Sorry for the essay - I’m just confused since I can’t see any reasons why it would be bad for your students to learn about the word “they.”
