You know what I love about your videos? It seems the vast majority of airgun hunting videos (for big game) are in fenced hunts. It’s boring and rubbish. Yours is as free range as it can get. I thank you for your work, it’s much appreciated and I wish I could join you one day but I’ll never get to Hawaii. Cheers from Aus, Troy.

Troy and Skyelar, Thank you so much for your kind comments. It means a lot. Yes these are definitely wild hunts, many times we get busted by the deer, and that's it for the day. Again, thank you for the encouragement...got me thinking of doing another hunt, and I am getting low on deer meat. Australia is on my bucket list...but like you I may never get there. Mahalos! Mike

Very true! Majority of big-bore hunts are on a ranch or controlled reserve where they know the habits and migration of the game on the property. In a free-range (Wild) hunt you usually have one chance and it may be your only chance🤙🏽

Hey thanks Dustin! Yes, I was thinking: Parallax guesstimated at 30 yards, (I had ranged the area prior) safety (as you can see I forgot that too), dont move too fast, GoPro (had already turned it on) Cheap Chinese cam (eh, forget it!), turn on cam on gun ( I actually did, but must have hit button twice)....All before aiming and firing! Yep a lot to think about in a few seconds... Precisely on the farm raised animals. This is the exact reason I hunt. Although I dont really like the act of killing, (and I thank every animal) , I dont have to go to Costco and buy a package of steak, I know where it comes from, I know it has not been fed processed grain, and I know exactly how much work it is to bring that food to my table. And it is a LOT. That goes for fishing and growing food too. The processing is a tremendous amount of work that most people nowadays have no clue.

What a great birthday celebration and excellent venison, to boot! Maui is a magical place and your video just adds to the charm. As for hauling game back, if you hunt uphill from the truck, the trip back is always downhill. I am considering a 360 camera like the Gopro Fusion or Insta360 One X for one of my hunting cams since I wouldn't have to point or aim it. Dustin can give a better opinion on that based on his videos. Jess

Thanks Jess! Unfortunately the gulches around here make it impossible to park downhill sometimes. So you gotta haul em up 😑. Dustin is awesome!

@@OutdoorsMaui. We hunted elk in Washington State for many years and always carried a half-mile reel of 5/8 inch dacron rope in the truck for getting dead elk (big animals!) to the vehicle. Like Maui, the roads often ran only on ridges leaving the hunting ground steeply on the wrong side of gravity. Usually a pair of stalwart lads (my brother and I, most often) would grab the rope end and head out to where the animal(s) were down, setting up pulleys and chokers where/if necessary to change direction of the pull. Once the elk were securely tied by the neck we would radio to start pulling by just driving down the road with the rope secured to the trailer hitch. It seemed like a long time for the rope to stretch as pulling began but soon the elk would sort of shudder, the neck would stretch a bit and ZIP the elk would be skipping off into the woods with us in hot pursuit, ready with the radio to the stop the truck before the rope broke if an elk was jammed up. Since the rope was being pulled by a truck driving at some mph, much faster than a winch, it was often a mad dash trying to keep up and in many ways was as much fun as the hunting. We waited to gut the elk until they were at the truck since they stayed much cleaner that way and the pulling and bashing around didn't hurt the meat since no bruising happens to dead animals. What fun memories. Jess

Wow, couldn't imagine hauling an animal that large. Never hunted elk. I did rig up a winch on my ATV for that very purpose, to winch deer out of the gulleys. Even rigged a remote control so I could go alongside as it went uphill. Worked really well. Wish I had brought the ATV this day!

Great shot Mike. Congrats on your first Deer with air. It's hard to remember to keep all the cams going. I've talked for hours sometimes not realizing my hatcam wasn't on..lol. Can imagine it'd be even harder in the heat of the hunt! I'm sure you'll get a routine down 👍. Nice to see the end result of a plate on your table from hunting for your own food! So many people cry about animal cruelty then go buy a pack of steak from Costco not realizing the farms their steak is raised in are horrible for the animals. Keep it up 👍

I own one and love it. I’d like to see a company produce a Diablo pellet for general target shooting - the FPS and accuracy would be outstandingly in my estimation.

LOL You're trolling, right? 'Cause the guy clearly is eating what he killed, which is the purpose of hunting, and the animal itself. Either trolling, or being deliberately obtuse. Take your pick, but I'd go with trolling, if I were you.
