To be honest, I didn't know who Sethi sahib was until this interview as I left Pakistan in the 1970s. Thanks for having conducted this interview and sharing the details. I can relate to a lot of things that Sethi sb said about his upbringing and his childhood in Pakistan. I do remember reading Friday Times very regularly! It was an hilarious newspaper. Especially that joke about Nawaz Sharif concentrating on orange juice carton because it read: "Orange Juice Concentrate"! 😄Sharif family suffers from ADD!!! What about "Nausea", first novel by Jean-Paul Sartre?

There is no doubt, Najam Shethi is a very brilliant journalist…Though I don’t agree with him all the times, but do carry a grudging respect… for he’s a top class, very witty and extremely clever with “words” knows art of twisting the words and make em “juicy”. Fully aware of his surroundings. In short, “He’s really a very educated, well versed… pure eloquence and master of “expression”…. WISH HE WAS NOT SO PRO NAWAZ SHARIF. Also, wish he could let go of his personal grudge against IMRAN Khan.

Excellent interview giving a glimpse of the personality of Mr. Najam Sethi- a very brilliant, mostly ethical, initially and internally truth-seeking but a little dishonest, timid, and politically compromising in holding off and in publicly expressing the whole truth that may have included the ugly, inhuman, immoral and undesirable facts and potential actions of the evil powerful, he interviewed, and he apparently held off the whole truth just to continue survival of his own fame. If he, selflessly and courageously, would have not held the ugly inhuman undemocratic facts and potential criminal unpatriotic actions of the evil powerful, he could have and was perfectly capable of enormously benefiting the helpless people of Pakistan and could have been very effective in revival of true freedom, democracy, social justice, and rule of law.
