Honestly it is a shame he’s only a major player in the backstory. Though I do love how we have an even split of “Satanic” angels between Doi and Kaneko when you consider there’s four of them.

I admit I was one of them. I figured resurrecting Samael would be used to further resurrect a Chaoskampf dragon after his own revival based on the trailers.

Samael being a secret boss and outright optional gives him some extra dignity, especially with this story. He's not of the Qadistu membership. He is their accomplice. An entity in the shadows, supporting them instead of being the mastermind. It feels quite rare for an accomplice to be quite the threat in battle.

Honestly I had originally suspected the Qadistu's goal was going to be summon Samael, since they're all said to be his wives. I wasn't disappointed when I found it was Tiamat, but I did want Samael to play a bigger role in this one.

Fought this guy way underleveled on hard and absolutely hated my life. The fight would on average take 25-30 minutes and I would always die at the end due to some cheese involving confusion ruining my turn. Probably the only boss I’ve ever raged to in SMT history

Kinda wish Samael got a new design, but a neat lore sidequest is still neat.

I'm bummed this quest didn't have any voice acting or major cutscenes. I did love how the battle music is still the same but more menacing in purpose. Also... I loved how to battle Samael with all the Qadistu (except Cleo for light absorption)

Strange he only appears right at the end instead of being a major character in the story since his 4 wives are, in fact he's still using his Nocturne design
