Congrats Samantha Fish, this is a testament of your years of hard work and dedication to your artistry. I’m sure there are tons of bands that are disappointed not making this list. Variety 50 Best Songs Of 2021: Samantha Fish, ‘Better Be Lonely’ at #45 Blues fans are not the type to always take kindly to one of their practitioners “going pop.” So Fish, who’s already at risk of seeming like an outsider in the genre just by virtue of being a female guitar-slinger, took some risk by going in a more commercial direction on her “Faster” album. But it paid off, as an amalgam of great hooks and the six-string prowess that brought her to the dance. “Better Be Lonely” is a particular delight - that riff and that chorus would be enough, but when she twins up that guitar part around the midway point, it turns into pure rock bliss.
