Samantha (Live in Studio) -written and performed by Nicole Sophia

I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 10 years old after having intense intrusive thoughts, including thoughts telling me to take my own life. I tried various treatments to heal my OCD, and none of them worked, until I got the advice to name and befriend the OCD voice in my head. I got the name SAM (which stands for Scan Alert Mechanism) from neuroscientist Dan Siegel. SAM was a little too boyish for me as a ten year old girl, so I named my OCD Samantha. This song is a love letter to the OCD voice in my head.
Today I am sharing the inspiration behind my song 'Samantha' and some insights into my mental health journey and writing process.
