Whenever people talk about PMG's "special shades", I always say "special...for PMG" in my head lol. Her special shades are nice, but they don't hold a candle to the "regular" shades of some indie companies like Clionadh, Terra Moons, Devinah, etc.

I'm definitely one of those people that are deeply enamored with the Pat Mcgrath palettes but I get that at that price you better be wowed! Tarte Shape tape is the one I don't love but is iconic.

I bought the tower 28 lip gloss and was not impressed. I love gloss and pretty much wear it every day. My favorite is the Fenty gloss. I so totally agree with you on the lash princess mascara. Every time I tried it, within minutes it was all over my face. I love watching your videos. Thank you for putting yourself out there and inspiring so many people.

I have a sample of the bite mascara. I've worn it around the house a few times and it was fine and looked really good but yesterday I left the house and went to a client's and when I left and looked in my car mirror I had raccoon/Alice Cooper eyes. When I got home it went straight to the trash.

I completely agree with the pay McGrath palettes too! I think they have beautiful shades in them I just don’t think they justify the price tag😩 but i still like them they’re pretty. Same feelings girl

YES!!! I agree completely about the PM palettes. I have the Divine Rose and 2 smaller palettes and they are my least used. Actually, I have to make an effort to use the Divine Rose because it upsets me that is is just okay and I have many more affordable pallets I enjoy even more. I had to google which ones are the special shades because I could not tell based on use. Mad respect for those who love the PM formula but it is not for me. Nice video 💕

I LOVE the Tower 28 glosses! In fact, I am planning on getting the new color, Pistachio, in the Sephora sale. I don’t like lip oils or sticky glosses, but these are my favorite!!!

I love it too! But I actually mix it in the bottle with the Mac fix + and so it’s not so harsh. High maintenance I know but it’s the best!!

I like it but I wasn’t as wow’d by it as I thought I’d be. It makes my lashes crunchy if I use too much so I probably won’t buy it again when I use it up.

Sam, I agree with you in that I hate the Essence mascara! It transfers everywhere! Does no one love the CoverGirl Lash Blast line? I never hear any influencers talk about it, but it's my holy grail I discovered after finding the Diorshow too expensive to keep repurchasing.

I love Cover Girl lash blast line! I swear by waterproof mascara as I have hooded eyes, there's no transfer ever and it's easier to take off than MJ waterproof gel liner.

The standout product for me that everyone loved, and I really didn't like, was the e.l.f. CC Cream. I had to really work to get a few good days out of it. Usually, it just looked cakey, and emphasized every line and dry spot I didn't know I had. The Rare Beauty foundation and concealer ended up being the same way. In this case, I loved them to begin with, but my skin got dryer, and then I started having issues.

Don't ever hesitate to say you don't like something. I think too many influencers just ride the band wagon because they're "afraid" to say they don't like a hyped-up product. If you, someone who does this for a living, can get caught up in the hype and feel "pressured" into buying a product, the rest of us don't stand a chance! This is why I watch you, because I know you will be truthful and you also go into great detail about why you like/dislike an item. Stay true!!

Kosas powder came to me completely hard panned. Tons of reviews saying the same. And PM shadows were probably worth it some years ago before especially indie brands started killing it. But now everyone is doing it and her darker mattes are too pigmented and hard to blend. I don't want eyeshadow you have to be super careful with. I do very much appreciate her new wand though for adding shimmer to the lid and not getting fallout. It's so helpful.

I’m with you on the Pat McGrath palettes. I have two of the motherships (and the more “wearable” ones Divine Rose and the Subliminal 1) along with a few quads and while I think they’re pretty and I like the quality, I never remember to actually use them. I will pick a Dior, Tom Ford or Charlotte Tillbury quad ten times over any of my Motherships and would choose the ND bigger palettes. Even my older ABH Sultry gets more use. That says a lot to me so I’ve decided not to buy anymore PM.

I've always been a lip gloss lover, but I despise those Tower 28 glosses. I feel like the whole world is gaslighting me, lol. They're so, so thin and watery, and they're gone in 5 minutes. I got the set of 4 around Christmastime, and I decluttered them all by January.

I think it's hysterical that my least favorite mascara of ALL time is the Maybelline Sky High, and my absolute favorite is the Essence 🤣 The Sky High is the only mascara I've ever used and then threw away after 3 uses 😳 Love your videos, Samantha!

I've really learned to be choosy about who I take mascara recommendations from. I do like the sky high. It doesn't blow me away but, considering how much frustration I've experienced with drugstore mascara, I like it. On a whim I decided to try Maybellines Ricket mascara and I like it better than the Sky High. I watch Hannah Louise Poston and I absolutely vibe with her on quality of eyeshadow, but I hate the mascara from Elf that she raves about. Maybe the big mood? I'm bot sure, I think the packaging looks different. Either way, as much as I love HLP, I do not think I will enjoy any other mascaras that she loves based on that experience.

We all have preferences. I'm obsessed with the PML palettes. Especially her shimmery toppers and duo and tri chromes. I own all of her mothership palettes and they are my go to's. For me, they are just unique and I always get compliments when I wear it. On the other hand, I don't get the hype about Natasha Denona palettes. They just dont blow me away. We're all different and different products work better for different people.

I had a bunch of Natasha denona palettes before I got my first Pat McGrath and I LOVED them. I loved Natasha’s formula. I still like it but I just can’t love it now that I have Pat McGrath. I want to reach for Pat everyday and when I don’t I’m sad and feel meh about my eyeshadow. I legit feel prettier when I wear my Pat 😂

I like the tower 28 glosses, especially in Cashew. they're not sticky and moisturizing- em cosmetics clear gloss is my favorite still though. One thing to know re: the tower 28 is that the shelf life may be on the short side. Hannah louise poston talked about one she had that went bad faster than she expected

The Tower28 is probably my favorite gloss formula tied with persona. They’re just so effortless. I also like the Fenty, Dose of Colors, Ofra, Bite and Rare glosses but I think the Tower28 is superior. It’s just so lightweight, glossy, not too sticky or thick. It’s not super pigmented but the color comes through.

Yeah, Pat palettes don’t do it for me either! I do like Natasha formula, but like you said colourpop Can be annoying with the amount of paletes they come out with but also I appreciate it because their formula is pretty good and you can pretty much find any color story you want.

I’d like to think that we have all significantly grown in our beauty journey to accept that we all have different preferences. That’s why it’s helpful for influencers to explain WHY they love or hate a product. Also keeping in mind many other contributing factors such as age, skin type and condition, skin allergies and weather/climate. Of this list I love pat mcgrath, Dior highlighter and benefit boing. Verdict is still out on Kosas powder.

I agree that PM prices are over the top also, I have two of her pallets & I adore the “special shades” because they are unique. I think she is the only brand that offers that special Glitz formula. I feel like if she came out with mid size palettes at a more affordable price like ND, that would be more approachable! I would love if she considered that!! I think what applies on pat. Palettes ...applies on ridiculously priced makeup of Tom Ford, Valentino, that eyeshadow palette from hourglass..etc...there is nothing special about them🙈 I love mid range price at high end like natasha denona and hudabeauty ❤❤

Lol. “I don’t know what you’re doing…?” I use the CT spray because I get sweaty on my forehead. It’s like a curse. Super annoying. I am the one that can sweat in a snow storm. Hormones, genetics, and anxiety add to this issue. I sometimes have to take my clothes out on the back patio (fenced in yard) to get dressed for work. It will be literally 22 degrees, I’ll be practically nude and still 😓 🥵😓. The CT helps keep my pretty hard work on my face so it looks like I tried when I get to the office. 😉

The product that immediately comes to mind for me is the Tarte Shape Tape! I see wrinkles I didn't even know I had when I tried it. I had much better luck with the creamy version though. I like Natasha eyeshadows better as well but probably because I only have one of the smaller Pat shadow palettes.

PAT MCGRATH!!! YES, THANK YOU!!!! What a waste of money!!! I was NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL!!!! I bought the Divine Rose 2. I didn't like the color story, and I don't remember if I liked the formula. I think I may have just blamed it on the color(s) or so I thought at the time. I returned it for store credit at Sephora. I, then, used the store credit to bought another palette of hers the Bronze Seduction, and I am not a fan. The quality isn't there. The formula's aren't great. The shades fade especially the red shade. I only keep it because it was $129, and I can't see getting rid of $129. I don't see the hype - AT ALL!!! THANK YOU SAMANTHA!!! I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU!!!!

I totally understand where you are coming from in regards to the Pat McGrath eye shadows and that's why I have NEVER purchased an eye shadow palette of hers ever! There are so so many in my opinion enter quality for a fraction of the price! For example ADEPT shimmers

I love the few Pat palettes I have and I also own a few blushes from her, but I've never paid full price for any of it and don't think I could bring myself to. I'm just not sure that any eyeshadow palette is worth that much to be honest. I have a few of the ND minis and really like the formula. I would love to buy a midi palette but the right colour story hasn't appeared yet. I feel like a mix of the bronze and glam would be good. I like to have some variety in a palette and I think they just have too many similar shades in them for the price, so everything could come out looking very similar.

I do really agree with you on so many of those. The same way boing doesn’t work for you, I have issues with Armani Luminous Silk foundation. I can use it, if I slather my face in cereve cream and rosehip oil, any other moisturiser underneath and it ages me 10 years (which when you’re already 43, you really don’t want). I don’t understand how it works for so many people and is such a staple for so many. I’m at a point where I’m going to have to use a Jamie G trick and mix Inkey list PGA in with it to make the foundation more juicy too. I would like to see the other video x

I love the Tower 28 glosses! They are very comfortable. My favorite gloss formula is Lunar Beauty’s, it is so amazing! I see what you are saying about the CT setting spray. I have it in my collection and love it and continue to repurchase. I felt like it was the ultimate lifesaver when wearing masks all the time. And I enjoy it when I do not want my makeup to move at all.

I’m with you on all of these, especially the PM eyeshadow formula and the Essence mascaras! My product everyone loves and I hate is Estée Lauder double wear. I’ve tried for years to get it to work for me and it always looks heavy on my skin

totally agree about Pat Mc Grath. Unrecyclable, too big, too little in the pan, too expensive, and no better than any other high end brand or indie shadow maker. The customer service and customer experience is atrocious too, from the website to the photography to the ordering. Bloody awful! I don't buy her products any more.

Of all the high end brands or products I have on a 'Maybe Someday' mental list, PM is not on it. I have just been in the makeup game long enough to realize that an eyeshadow palette can only have so much cost associated with it before it's ridiculous. I'd rather just pay a high price for a single in a 'special shade' like a Clionadh or Devinah single pan or something.

I do want to experience Clionah but with out of country shipping nightmare in the US I will wait until shipping time gets better. The same with Glam Shop. If I spent $550 on PMG I would only get a few pallets with very few special shades. And her repetitive color story is Meh!

This was such a fun video!! I think you should give the Tower 28 glosses another shot! I wasn’t a big gloss girl either until this past year, when I really started trying out a few brands…I seen they launched some new shades so I picked up pistachio, and I instantly fell in love…The color is so pretty and not sticky at all…I’m definitely ordering a couple more shades soon lol…As for the PM palettes, the makeup lover in me loves the looks of her palettes, BUT, I just don’t see where the quality is any better than Natasha or some of the other top brands out there..That’s just my opinion lol…You look gorgeous Sam🥰

Divine Rose is my favorite PMG palette, to me it’s perfect, BUT I’ve been less than impressed with some of the other PMG palettes I’ve tried. It’s not a bulletproof or completely consistent product.

I also completely agree with the point that no one should be paying full price for these, sign up for the emails from her brand website and you can often pick them up for 20 or 25% less than retail. Or of course you can always go for the Sephora sales. I will say, I have paid full price for Natasha Denona palettes and had zero regrets.

We have similar views on many products... except I love the ct setting spray. Some of the others, I have been hesitant to admit that I only just 'like' because I have paid so much for them... Dior, Pat McGrath etc. I can't say that I have found a holy grail concealer for my under eyes for mature skin yet - and I try just about every release so I dread to add the cost of just that collection I have!!! I think I am finally ready to pass on some more of my Pat palettes to some younger relatives who will actually use them; time for a more cut-throat de-clutter. You look beautiful today xx

The dior fave quad, try mixing the 3 lightest shades (just not the dark bronze shade). I like it best when I mix all three lightest shades together as a highlight.

It may have been a glitch on their site cause after a few hours it was over. But I received a confirmation email saying my order was being processed and prepared for shipping.

I totally agree with you on the Pat pallets! I have come to the conclusion that they so pigmented because they are targeted towards dark skin tones and this is why my eye look always ends up really really dark and bold!

Something I hate/can’t use are the maybelline concealers! I’ve tried the age rewind and fit me sooooo many times and every time I get severe eye irritation. 😩 it’s a struggle when random ingredients hate you lol 😂

I totally agree with you regarding the Kosas concealer, and the Essence lash princess mascara (even though it technicatl wasn't featured in the video). I thought I was the only one that didn't go bonkers over that mascara. I share your preference for using setting sprays to melt my powder makeup products together and to help my makeup look more natural. However, I have a real appreciation for the Charlotte Tilbury setting spray. It definitely feels sticky upon first application, but I find the stickiness goes away quickly. I got the setting spray during COVID and I found it was the best for making my makeup last under a mask without transfer. So I use it for a specific need, when I need my makeup to stay put and not budge or transfer. Otherwise I'm usually reaching for another spray.

The Sexfoil gives more of an irredentist wash of colour. I’ve used it under foundation and it gives a beautiful glow, but I’m also using like Kaleidos Gifted Highlighter or a super shock blush when I do that… you know real Fifth Element like makeup. I don’t think that’s your vibe, but I think used with sunblock and lotion you’ll get the same alien glow. When the sun hits your skin you’ll be like a shiny Pokémon!
