Ever since I switched over to the Pixel 7 Pro at the end of 2022, I've been using it as my main, everyday device.
And so, I thought it would be worth putting together a final, updated review to let you know why I’ve continued using it for so long, and to assess whether it’s still worth purchasing here in 2023.
Enjoy!

Thank you for making a long-term review, it's so much more useful to a consumer than a "I played with this for a few days when it was brand new" review. And also, as someone whose top priorities in a phone are a good camera and solid battery life, this is a conundrum!

To those that worry about the pixel 7 battery life. Let me tell you what my day looks like. I take my phone out of the charge at 7am starting at 100%. I'd use my phone pretty much constantly up until literally 9am when I enter the office. It'll be pretty much youtube videos and music or talking on the phone. I'll only use my phone sporadically until 1pm. Briefly check news, articles, twitter etc. 1-2pm I'll be on the phone the entire time during my lunch. Then 2-4 again sporadic use. Around 4 or 4:30pm I'll leave the office. I'll be on the phone or watching KZbin videos the entire time up until I get home 1 hour later. As I am writing this the time is 4:50pm and I'm on my way home. My phone is on 49% percent. By the time I get home around 5:30pm, I'll probably be on anything between 42-45% percent. Lowest it'll be 40%. So from 7am to 5:30pm with about 4 hours of constant heavy use and sporadic use throughout the day and I'll be home with 40% charge. Around 9pm I'll need to plug it in depending on how much I use it. Can you get phones with better battery life in 2023, for sure. Will it affect your life? No. Charging speeds are far more important and it's the only issue I have with this phone. (Pixel 7 pro) Just a quick note. My brightness is always maxed out, all stuff is on (NFC, Bluetooth, data etc) and screen resolution at the max 1440p.

I was recently daily driving my S23 Ultra and Fold4 but I decided to switch one of them up and go back to the Pixel 7 Pro. I have to say, I absolutely agree with you. I've forgotten how much nicer the image processing is. Especially 5X telephoto when treating it for close up shots with natural bokeh; with its optics looking much more visually pleasing than the S23 Ultra's 10X bokeh. Yes, call me crazy with my obsession with using the telephoto lenses but the Pixel 7 Pro has the best telephoto focal length in my opinion - which it reminds me of why I was disappointed when I switched from the Note20 Ultra to the S22 Ultra. I also much prefer the Pixel 7 Pro's implementation of its maximum brightness as Samsung boosts the saturation on their display to push higher perceived brightness. It's software handling of HDR content is also superior. Like iOS, it only plays HDR content within the content window. Combined with its software (and haptic implementation), I can't wait to see where the Tensor G3 will take us with the upcoming Pixel 8 Pro. For now till September/October, the Pixel 7 Pro and S23 Ultra will remain in my pockets. Fantastic review as always.

Pixel HDR playback idea is great but main issue with Pixel 7 Pro for me is, HDR processing is bad and everything looks odd. I loved Pixel 6 Pro HDR content playback, though I wished display was brighter. Now Pix 7 Pro display is really bright but somehow they have messed up HDR content playback. Recently I play some tv series on Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max and Z Fold4. And Pixel 7 Pro colors looked weird. That's why I don't love Pixel 7 Pro as much as I did to Pixel 6 Pro. Also in hand feel of 6 Pro was better. But Fingerprint sensor is faster way faster on 7 Pro. Network works great and internet speeds WiFi is way better than even S23 Ultra. As connection speed of 7 Pro is 2400 while S23 Ultra shows 1200. I always admired iPhone HDR processing and my second favorite was Pixel phones. and Samsung phones had always something missing and with S23 Ultra they have a bug where screen brightness flickers but processing is very good. Xiaomi 12 Pro HDR had brown tint in videos. Point is I care way too much for HDR streaming. Pixel 7 Pro messed that up for me.

I love this video for the fact that it is one of the very few long term reviews. The most popular KZbinrs don't care to make long term reviews but for someone who's trying to understand which phone to buy for daily usage, it's the long term reviews that are helpful because every phone is great in its first week. What matters the most is how the phone is ageing with time and successive updates, is the manufacturer actually improving the user experience with successive updates or they're casual about it, these are things that matter. So big thanks again, and I hope to see more long term reviews from you in future.

I own pixel 7 pro, But from last 1.5 months phone is switching off alot of times whenever i play game's or scroll over the display. Few days back I've sent my phone in there service centre for a replacement because it's under warranty but they rejected the replacement by saying that there's no hardware issue in my phone,and said that we've installed a new software in it. And the moment i received back my phone,i was cleaning the display of my phone,again it got switched off.Better to opt for a different brand from now. There services sucks. They don't even care about their customers.

@@soujanyatiwary I kinda have an idea of this. You must be living in India, Pixel is not a good option in India yet. There isn't good service as you mentioned and another thing is Pixel phones heat up more than other phones with stable snapdragon chips. That is an issue which matters in countries like India where in most places it's really hot in summer.

I just bought the P7P obsedian or whatever it's called. Those who are planning on buying, here is your boost of confidence: The curved screen is as always gorgeous. The QHD+ panel and curved edges are sign of premium quality. The speaker quality itself is mind blowing like my mom uses s22U and she was like "Are you playing the song on your bluetooth speakers?" 😉 when I was using the p7p. The ToF sensor is incredible. The AF performance, even in 4k60 is way better than s22u or even s23u. It's so accurate, it feels magical. Still iPhone pro series models are unbeatable in af performance. The sustained gaming performance is close to 14 Pro. Oh and damn isn't the haptic experience out of this world... Like I used to iphones had the industry leading taptic engine but Google is yet again magical. You'll have to use it for a day or two to appreciate it. Also the AI specific live captions and the live translate alongside other exclusive features are ahead of any generic apple or Samsung. For buggy and cheap part: Idk maybe because the phone is a day old or something but yes, the phone heats up like crazy. And the stereo setup is unbalanced. And yes the portrait alongside portrait videos suck compared to Apple. And the battery is very underwhelming, again maybe because it's a day old.

It's so crazy the different reviews we get. I'm still using my 3xl, and I still get 4 to 5 hours screen on time. It's never been an all day user if I use it heavy. Games or utube or talking. I'm stuck at android 12, but that gives me everything I need. The front facing stereo speakers are my favorite deal with the 3xl. I've always had front facing stereo speakers since my Moto x pure. And I know I'll miss um when I switch. Unless I go Sony or a gaming phone. I like the s21plus, but it has a bottom speaker as well. And the reviews say they get really hot too. I like Pixel, but they kinda lost me with moving the speaker to the bottom. 😞. Thanks

@@LifeProducersofNewJerseyLLC Yes, I know what you mean. I really don't mind newer features. It's losing old ones that I was unhappy with. Now with their home grown chip set. Buggy. But her video definitely proves my point that, the camera is primary, when priorities are decided. I've seen new 7 pros on eBay for around 450, for the 128 gig model. And that's all my 3xl has and I'm not even close to filling that. I just hate losing my front facing speakers. I watch much content with the phone sitting on its bottom. So that speaker would constantly be covered. I'm considering an Xperia 1. But man, they want an arm and leg for even older models. And I'm not paying 900 bucks for any phone. But at least Sony is holding on to the quality and front facing stereo speakers. But I paid under 3 hundred for my 3xl, brand new. And I'll be damned if they're now suddenly worth 3 times that. I've noticed with my 6 Pro that it is very situational and app dependant on the battery life. It still does get me to the end of the day most of the time but it is rather inconsistent. With root my Pixel 6 is basically perfect, I'd imagine a Pixel 7 or 7 pro would be the same. I can make the notification shade translucent with Project Themer, I can change the icons on the stock launcher and replace the search bar or at a glance (not both!) with pixel launcher mod, I can remove the ugly border from the lock screen fingerprint sensor with AOSP mod, I can hide the nav bar, increase the volume steps, change the material you colour with repainter, etc. These are all things that SHOULD be in stock android, but root being able to do it is a comprimise I'll accept for now lol.

I adore my pixel 7 pro. Its crazy good. I daily use an iphone 14 Pro Max and the pixel is my "work phone" its crazy good and the image quality blows my iphone away. I use apple because it "just works" with my macbook, imac, ipad, apple tv. And all my many apple devices. But I always find myself reaching for my Pixel 7 Pro. I absolutely love everything about google phones. I had the pixel 5 in the green metal and they make the most beautiful phones tbh.

Got the 7 Pro myself and got me the S23 Ultra this week...long story short the Samsung is going back today. I don't get how people can justify the price increase over the pixel. The Samsung might be better in benchmarks and battery life, but that's it. Pixel feels much better in daily use and the camera gets you a great picture and is awesome for just taking it out of your pocket and shoot. S23 takes way too much tinkering to get decent pictures. No issues with the battery life either on the Pixel, can easily get through a day from 05:00 am to 11:00 pm with 30 to 40% left.

I have no issues with battery life, it's never gotten to anything lower than 75%, so it all depends how heavily you use your phone on a daily basis. I love my Pixel 7 Pro, it's literally a perfect phone for me. Very, very happy with it.

I’m thinking of switching over to Google and looking at the 7 pro, though I am worried because I have heard a lot of people comment about the Pixel 7 pro having an overheating issue. Are any of you guys experiencing overheating issues with your pixel 7 pro? I’m coming from an iPhone 12 Pro Max. Not sure if it matters or not, but I do not game on my phone, except for an occasional Pokémon go now and then, or solitaire. I’m old lol.

My Pixel 7 is great when I am on WiFi, but as soon as I switch to cellular network all hell breaks loose. Mobile network is sucking up battery like crazy. It is only giving me 3.5 hrs SOT on mobile network, while on WiFi it gives 6+ hrs SOT. Is this problem only in India, or elsewhere as well? Also, if anybody is getting good battery life in India when you are off Wifi, could you please tell which sim you are using?

Battery life also. I had a much better first 6 months with the pixel 3xl than im having with the 7pro and its a shame.

My phone had a screen problem covered by Google's garantee. for the past 10 days I used a OnePlus phone with OxygenOS 12 and man... That's where you see that everything is at the right place and helpful on a Google Pixel phone. Simple and almost stress free implementation of android.

@GeneralAeon
@GeneralAeon Жыл бұрын
Capacitive finger print sensors are scanners on the outside of the phone like pixel 4a and earlier. Pixel 7/7 pro uses an under the screen scanner which takes a picture of your finger print through the screen of the phone to unlock it. About face unlock keeping the fingerprint unlock item is a preference, he prefers to see that his phone is unlocked rather than just a blank lock screen

I've had mine since November, and my gf got a regular Pixel 7, they've been great thus far and I've taken some killer pictures. The battery life has definitely become a more present issue for me in recent months, but I also have it set to 144hz so that definitely doesn't help. I think there also may be an issue with the voltage regulator when using fast chargers, because it repeatedly connects/disconnects when it gets started. Both cable and the 45w charger are fine and work great on her regular 7.
