A wonderful discovery! I first heard the kora played by Mafu's grandfather, Alhaji Bai Konte, at the Winnipeg Folk Festival in 1979. A celestial sound, the harp angels play in heaven is the kora, and some of them descend to the Gambia River to give mortals a glimpse of bliss.
