I've spoken to Nelson when he was here in Sydney. His persona is Aloof, Snubbish, and Arrogant but when you talk to him he cringes out of shyness. Mahina lang siya sa PR. Pero ang galing niya sa PBA!!

I was blessed enough to be able to practice at the Meralco Gym with my friends in the mid-90s. We're able to chat and play shoot-around with some of the San Miguel players back then. Allan Caidic, Hector Calma, Franz Pumaren, and Samboy Lim were very friendly. Coach Norman Black was very serious and all business. It was during the Finals series. Unfortunately, they lost the series. But still one of the best childhood memories I'll cherish.

Atleast for Samboy, we knew the reason why he never won MVP. Because of his patay kung patay style of play. Naiinjure sya. For Asaytono, it's baffling. When it comes to stats, andun naman. I agree with Allan 92 and 97 were the years that Nelson really had a shot to win the MVP. Maybe, he's too great that his opponents never really voted for him. His that great that his colleagues was bitter of him. Nelson was 5th all time in Scoring. But he was excluded to the 25 and 40 greatest list. That's travesty. Highway robbery.
