I was fighting with my copart mustang. It wouldn't start. the owner had modifications on the car and he removed some of them. I found wires that were spliced into and he cut off his splices. I was untaping wiring and found why it wouldn't start. I found a 2nd one that was keeping the key from starting the car. spliced them both back together and now it will start. Now i need to start working on the rear suspension. I also bought a parts car that has the parts i need for the rear.

Before all these things make sure to check the price of the same vehicle as a clear title one. I've seen many times people starts a bidding war on these auctions and pay way over what the vehicle actually worth.

UFI is a company who buys damaged cars then fixes so visually they look better and try to make money on people who don’t know any better Also if you buy yourself the buyer fees over $5k are 15% so get a car under a no license buyer account and imagine getting a car for $10k and be surprised with $1500 buyers fee on top. Something samcrac should mention to viewers.

Sam, can I buy a Salvage Tittle Run and Drive that may have side damage or rear damage or even front damage but the car is safe to drive on the road and have it register that way with "Bruises" or the car needs to be without any dents to be re-register to drive on the streets. The focus rs has a headgasket design flaw. It has 2k miles so im sure it needs to be replaced with the new upgraded one

Modified Cars the replacement re designed gasket is not any better. Some of the cooling ports are been blocked in the block. This engine was best suited for natural aspiration. Not for turbos direct injection. Mega fail on Ford's part. My buddy chose the ST over the RS for that exact reason.

The problem with the FoRS head gasket is that someone at the factory put the Mustang Ecoboost gasket (with a hole for a slot cooling passage that the FoRS engine doesn't have) into the engine. The fix is a head gasket that doesn't have the extra cooling passages (i.e. the one that Ford designed for the engine in the first place!l.

Best deals on Copart I typically see are small cheap cars with some damage but easily fixable. Make sure you inspect in person before buying.

Depends really, with cheap damaged cars its really easy to end up with repairs that will be over the purchase of the car itself. If you get a car that was in a collision let's say, it would be best to buy two of the same car like Samcrac did with the DXP car replace the parts you need from one of the cars to the one you want, then with the donor car part it out and sell the parts on ebay.

I know you've said as well as other not to buy a flooded car- I'm looking to buy a flooded FRS for a drift build so not for daily road use it will be towed to the track and only ever see track time- I'm looking to rebuild the car completely and gut it. Great info Sam, I have built 2 totaled cars myself and drove them both for years as my personal vehicles with no real issues at all but computers and websites like this were not anywhere near as prevalent as they are now. Copart is a great tool to use to buy a wrecked vehicle along with your info on how everything works.

Thank you for the video. I have two questions. 1. I have seen on one of these auctions where there was a repair estimate. Is there any way to link to the insurance company's repair estimate or any further details? 2. It seems to me that going through a broker is much cheaper than being an individual buyer directly through Copart. Copart charges individuals without a business license either 15 or 20 percent of the purchase price. Easy Export gets the same vehicle for 2 percent and then just charges its customer another $250 on top of that. Am I missing something? I can't image a scenario on a car costing more than $20k where going directly through Copart wouldn't cost a lot more. I'm looking for a car which will likely go for $30k so it seems like any easy decision to use the broker.

Most times it's the labour costs to fix a car that leave an insurance company with no choice but to deem it as salvage. In the case of the R8, being a relatively new model spares are limited and expensive, the LCD for the Speedo etc would probably be quite hefty in price..

How does a car like the vandalized r8 get a salvage title? For something to get a salvage title, doesn't it have to be a total loss. I'm sure it's not cheap to fix the vandalism but there's no way it should be totaled
