You should get a vacuum radiator refill tool, it uses compressed air and a venturi to pull a vacuum on the cooling system. Then you let it sit for several minutes to make sure there are no leaks. Then it uses a siphon hose and the vacuum in the cars cooling system to fill the cooling system. It works great, is fast and I haven't had any trouble with air being trapped in the system like if it was filled just using a funnel.

That's pretty cool! Basically the ECU needed to be calibrated to understand the raw data coming from the clutch position sensor (Probably a variable resistor as it outputs voltages). Similar to how when you download a new racing game or simulator on your PC and you have to calibrate your Logitech/Thrustmaster/whatever USB wheel and pedals. What's annoying is how far car manufacturers go to make it as difficult as possible for users to force you to pay ridiculous dealer service fees.

You should flush it out with distilled water before you put the coolant in it! Tap or well water has a lot of minerals that will cause oxidation in aluminum and rusting in steel. It will cause a build-up throughout the engine if it's not flushed out. Even if you try to drain it out there will still be tap water in the block and heater core and radiator. Which will cause problems over time. Distilled water is cheap and way better then the headache tap water will cause in a few years.

Think tap water is bad? Put some distilled water in. It's a great solvent. You want those minerals in, or it'll take it out of the engine. In the 1980s some people thought drinking distilled water was great. Great for leaching out calcium and other vital elements in the body. They ended up with permanent problems. Unless you have terrible water, use tap water. I've used tap water for over 40 years. No problems as long as I mix it to spec. Planning a trip to the arctic? My Dad's famous words. Coolant was good to like -45F.

Recently I leased a new VM Jetta... after going through all the hassles of a dealership I received a threatening letter from the dealer that sounded a lot like they wanted the car back. I was so pissed that I was hoping the letter was true/real. I was prepared to just grab some savings and buy a used car and drive it into the ground. Watching this channel reinforces my decision... so next time I'll invest in tools and a work space.

Their is a plastic shroud that is missing under your intake duct. It sits on top of the radiator and condenser and helps guide the air threw the radiator and condenser. You really need to have them installed you could possibly run into slight overheating issues with that missing. Just a heads up. Love your videos keep up the good work!

Thats been tested to help only when the car reaches a certain speed, otherwise the fans do most of the work. they arent as needed as you think.

Tyicus well as I stated in my comment it can lead to “SLIGHT OVERHEATING ISSUES” not saying that they are absolutely necessary but based my four years of experience working at a Chevrolet dealership as a fully certified GM technician I’ve worked on these cars and when these shrouds have been removed or lost I’ve noticed a loss in cooling performance to the a/c condenser as well as radiator. I have verified this with Live data using my scan tool. And while it is not huge it’s still a loss in performance.

Great video! Now that all the cars are controlled entirely by computers it really does get annoying trying to figure out why the car won't start. A few months back I had a Chevy cavalier that wouldn't start. I changed the fuel pump and battery, cleaned the fuel injectors, drained and put in new gas but it still wouldn't start! Then I finally figured out that the cars security system just needed to be reset after which it fired right up!

Any computer running Windows XP is 32 bit unless it says "64 Bit Edition" when starting up (which is rare and uncommon). You can find old XP laptops on sites like eBay for cheap since they aren't used much for everyday use anymore, but they work perfect for these situations

I dealt with the same thing on my Volkswagen b5 Passat. I purchased a ECU off eBay that was reflashed for 93 octane and 11 pounds more boost. I popped it in and it started but the would not idle right and will not rev above 2000 RPMs. You need some special dealer software to adapt throttle body called vag-com I'm sure you've heard of it if you mess with Audis. Luckily I found a guy on a forum that lived locally that and previously purchased the software for his laptop and interface cable. I went to his house installed the new ECU and his driveway in like 2 minutes then use this laptop to adapt the throttle body and it ran perfect. Took me a total of about 15 minutes and it went from having the acceleration of an old Ford Taurus to spinning the tires at 45 miles an hour in 2nd gear. It was a great day.

Congrats it sounds pretty healthy too ! It’s always best when you do it yourself Ive tried to use so called p rofessional shops and even the dealerships todo. Repairs and service. And i found out i was more thorough and knowledgeable of my vehicles system then they were ? It pissed me off when i realized i was capable of doing a better job and didn’t take the shortcuts the other guys did One example was i paid for 3 or 4. Tuneups on a truck Then i decided to do it myself i found the hardest spark plug to access had never been replaced as it was the original factory installed plug and did not match the other ones sure it was running but. I paid for all of them to be replaced several times I thought why? Then i remembered my father telling me do it yourself and you know its done right he was also a big advocate of purchasing the correct information and tools that yo need as well

A buddy of mine had the crank position sensor on hgis crown vic break off. The thing ran and sounded like it was cammed but worked good enough for a week until he could get the part. The amazing thing was the amount of power it had in that time since it ran rich. Apparently if your crank position sensor fails, you can do really long burnouts lol!

You can install a 32bit operating System directly on a 64bit maschine. (you can even install ms-dos directly on a 64bit maschine because they are all backward compatible.)

I have friends ask me all the time "why don't you just take your Jeep somewhere and have them fix it?" Well for one I'm not made of money, are the parts and tools I purchase expensive to fix my Jeep? Sometimes yes, most the time no... I bought my 03 jeep liberty and it came with 1 key... no key fob so I had to manually unlock my doors and there's only one key hole (on the driver side) Dodge wanted $270 bucks to program and give me a single key fob. I went to Amazon and found a tool that plus to the inside of my Jeep under the dash, smashes the buttons as instructed and boom. Now I can lock/unlock/open my glass back top (the back door has a big tire on it and my back opens glass first then the door), and I have a panic button. The other great thing is I've programmed multiple peoples Jeep Wrangled, Cherokee , and Liberty's charging only $20 (they must provide the key fob which is like $9 bucks on Amazon, has to be a certain type of key fob which I give the numbers for each vehicle) not only has the part paid for its self... but its helped people like me who want to open the passenger door for a date but can't because there's no door lock on the passenger side. Seeing you put this beauitful car together and getting it running has been a joy!!! It reminds me why I like working on my own vehicles rather than depending on some shop who may either screw me over or charge me out the rear for labor. Your video is inspiring as a Corvette is a sports car among all sports cars. Plus it sounds amazing, looks amazing, and the fact you did it yourself... again just amazing. I dunno if your some ASE certified mechanic but if not then even bigger congratulations are in store as it was amazing just watching you bring this beast back to life.

Mike Podruchny Since my comment I purchased and used this device. It is exactly like owning a GM Tech2. You can even use it to download programs to install a PCM/ECM or any other module in a late model GM vehicle. Go to acdelcotds.com and you pay for a day or more to download software needed for your module. This website is the same website used by GM mechanics but is for small shops or individuals. This site also has the same service info as used by GM mechanics. Definitely recommend this scanner interface.

Mike Podruchny Not sure on the Ford side unfortunately. I am a Chevy technician and Mazda. I know Mazda shares some of Fords IDS but through even Mazda’s IDS I can’t access Ford vehicles. This particular scanner interface that I bought and also Samcrac bought is for GM vehicles only. I don’t know if this company makes one Ford as well. Sorry that I can’t help you out with your Food situation. Hopefully someone reads this thread and can help you out.

That crank sensor thing can happen when you replace the flywheel too. On ford stuff it’s called a Neutral Profile Relearn. At least with my car you can use an aftermarket tuner to do crank relearn.

Sam you're going to end up with brown sludge by using tap water in your cooling system with Dex-cool, it's finicky stuff. You have to use distilled water only. Great you got the car running.

I got a 2004 Tahoe with dex cool coolant @ 250K miles only used distilled water with it, same with my 2004 Saab 9-3. Distilled water is key when mixing with dex cool.

Even one gram of minerals in water makes no difference. Besides, any minerals or contaminates are suspended in the antifreeze, and again the volume is insignificant. There are more minerals, ions and residual crap coming off the metal parts, gasket goop, seals, etc. Using distilled water is just an 'old wives tale'. Check your hot water tank, it takes three years and thousands of gallons of raw water to create significant mineral buildup.

DO NOT USE DEX-COOL!!! I have a 1993 c4 corvette and I had to replace the engine coolent and the owners manual said to use Dex-Cool but what it does is leave a brown sludge like mud in your hoses and you have to get the whole engine cleaned out or even get a new engine. Just warning ya!

William Garrett due to the low profile of a vet, there is barely enough room for a body. A creeper would make it virtually impossible to get under the car and work on it while on jackstands.. jacking the car higher would tweak the frame, I personally use a moving pad when working under mine..and yes I have a creeper..

Actually, GM resolved the problem with Dex cool. The coolant in early 2000 was reacting to the chemicals in the gasket sealer and chemical coatings on the head gaskets. Idiots were putting it in 1997 models and older. The gasket sealer in 2005 and newer vehicles do not have that problem.

It used to be called a Tech II. When my Dad worked for them he would bring one home from time to time. Huge Blue diagnostic and programming tool. Spinal Tap would go it too. It did not say to start it it said to cycle the key between off and on.

You can run compatibility mode under 32bit no need to re-install . Every 64bit always have 32 version of the os.

Some older Software for Cars need XP and a 32 Bit CPU to run properly. You have a more direct hardware access on XP to the USB/Com Ports then under Windows 7 or 10. So it is not bad to have a older Netbook or Laptop to run the software without issues .

I just bought the Wi-Fi version of the VCX Nano and used it with my 2 year old HP laptop running Windows 10 64 Bit; and Tech2Win ran flawlessly! Now I can figure out why my TPMS light is going nuts after about 30 minutes of driving.

I purchased a corvette . it was missing ALOT of parts from a tornado as the front of the engine was in the process of being worked on. I now have it back together and it's running so good. So don't give up! It's worth the wait.

Do not put dex-cool in that vette I had it in my chevy and it rotted out the freeze plug I recommend putting green peak antifreeze in

The 32-bit computer thing u got wrong. It is software related in terms of, you can install an 32-bit OS on 64-bit hardware but not the other way around. To be able to use 64-bit u do need the parts supporting it. But you dont need an old computer just to be able to use 32. OK?
