Is it possible to install just the meter and use it to replace analogs without the transmitter? If so will it still emit a signal from the meter itself? Or does it have to be activated in this manner? RF radiation is a concern.

Yes, you can just install the meter itself. The transmitter radio is the only thing that puts out a frequency that is collected by the antennas we have around our valley that’s owned by us. These meters and radios are not cell phone based they are radio frequency based. There’s a pigtail that goes from the meter to the transmitter box and that’s how the transmitter box receives its signal from the meter. No activation is needed since you’re not pairing the meter to the radio to the antenna base towers. Keep in mind the space that you have in your meter Pitts since these meters are somewhat higher than a normal PMM meter or badger meter that we used to have manually reading.

@@SamDegonia yea I heard they’re going to be starting in the next few months and it will be like a 4 year process to switch over the entire city

Installlling these in the City of Saint Petersburg Florida . They are not so careful with calibration rather by accident or design watch the dang water bill they have no issue over charging to replace the storm water system. The lids are made so the customer can't open and read the meter easy. Its junk.

They are more accurate since they are ultrasonic. They are a better meter because the older style loses accuracy due to the moving parts. I work on these as a AMR/AMI specialist as well as utility service representative, I have tested them and tested them and tested them and even had them tested by another municipality. Calibration is spot on. In my state, it is against the law to open your meter lid and begin tampering with the meter, unless given complete permission. If I suspect someone is looking for a leak I do not do anything. But if they don't trust me, after I test the meter, that's okay enjoy that $80 bill for opening that pit.
