afjsfs i can affirm this is absoluty true.. moreso because when you're beginning you're at a stage where you should focus on learning to see how to draw. brush types play no part in helping that and actually might even hinder your learning progress. beginner artists are still at the stage where they have no idea what makes a painting good, so they assume it's the fancy brushes advanced artists use. intermediate artists start understand this and therefore advocate for skills > brush type. but as you get more advanced, you already know how to draw exactly what you're imagining, and you're prioritising on experimenting style/different effects over learning fundamentals, and also saving time with different brushes.

@@auxuris I would agree except your comment is suggesting that I am a professional artist and I don't exactly know what to say about that /j But seriously I do agree with you however I also feel like people can be multiple stages at once, in a way. I keep downloading new brushes for Procreate because I just love fucking around with awesome watercolor shit and tbh don't wanna go through the hassle of replicating watercolors digitally without an actual brush that does that for me lol. Also having an Apple Pencil has opened up so many goddamn possibilities for me with my artwork lol.

something that I've learned ( as i paint with a hard brush only) is that in you lower the opacity it makes it easier to blend as ur slowly building up color
@floralzero

ye-- but different programs kinda implement opacity differently; e.g. in photoshop; each 50% opacity stroke will appear kinda like you were drawing on a layer at 50% opacity, where as paint tool sai or smth will apply ur 50% opacity stroke like real paint(?) and kinda layers over each other kekek i prefer photoshop x3

I used to be a brush obsessed artist as novice, and from time to time I still check my pinterest paste to overload my softwares with new brushes just to delete half of them 3 days after but yeah, there is no brush in this world that will save your lack of skill and knowledge., there is no magic for lazy artists. I am intermediate and I tend to use only 1 brush per piece on painting, it depends on what effect I want to get but rarely I mix more than 2 brushes.

@islanddryad
@islanddryad 3 жыл бұрын
Because the person using the brush is more important than the brush itself. The brush won’t make brilliant pieces of art for you, only you can do that and you can achieve that with any brush that you use, even the default brushes, and that’s what’s important. There are beginners out there that look at how many brushes there are and get intimidated or buy as many as they can thinking that it’ll make their art look good and when it doesn’t work either way it could make some people give up on digital art when they don’t get the results they imagined because they feel confused and discouraged

YES!! your the best ever. I too only use one brush because I don't really like spending hours mathematically trying to find the right brush using brush tools settings. Plus im using a different software which I find a little harder to use the settings sometimes. Its great to see someone else showing me how they would use the same brush as me and what kind of result you can get out of it. And looking at your work it definitely works with that kind of brush. Thank you I will continue to use that brush :D

Wait wait wait are you actually telling us that your brushes aren't the art equivalent of Samson's hair and the drawing ability lies actually in the artists themselves?! Absolutely ludicrous!

After watching enough tutorials and going back to my tablet. I realized. It’s not the brush I need to download. It’s your brain and talent I need to download. 😉 very inspiring artist. Thanks.

Your videos are all beautiful, when I saw your account at Instagram and notice that you have a KZbin channel I was really shock so I went to KZbin and search your channels name then I subscribe. I’m a digital beginner I gave up a month ago but when I saw your arts I was amazed and told myself to get back and start doing what you started, your very blessed thank you for this awesome digital arts you did 🙏🏻💗

pro tip although i am a begginer!: when i bled colors togehter, i just pick the darker/ lighter color, and between their meeting line, I would lower the opacity of my airbrush then color over that line until its semi-blended. Idk if people know this, but I suggest not overdoing it and keeping hard edges because that will make it look better.

New here and love your work, I know this is just a challenge but when it comes to softening edges using a round brush like mentioned at 10:25, what I find works for me is I lower the opacity of the color I'm trying to use to anywhere from 20-50% then color pick the area and work that area constantly picking color and "painting" softly. Hope this helps someone else.
