Every couple of weeks I return to your website to watch this film. It’s not because of gear, colour grading or the location. You’ve displayed a massive spectrum of emotions is such a short time frame. This is what I believe wedding films should try to portray, the joy and celebration but also the pain and hard work that brought these two together. Thank you Philip, your work reminds me of why I chose this as a career 😊

That's so nice to hear buddy! Sometimes if the story in front of you is that incredible, the other ingredients almost don't matter!! 🙌🏻

Amazing! Loved this video and story, and even more impressive that you guys pulled it off as a SDE. Next time you're in SoCal hit me up, I'm always happy to help and catch up with a beer! Job well done!

If you had not said that as a SME, I don't think anyone would know, I for sure. Beautiful, powerful and great music choice... I too love to push my couples idea of music on occasion. 100% and worth all the stress in the making of it. MUCHO KUDO Mr White and team.

Stunning. Would love to understand a bit more about your grading. I have the sl2 s as well but I just use the Leica LUTS supplied

We didn't really have any time to focus on the colour with this edit. I did shoot it in L-log but I used my own preview LUT in camera. When we pulled the footage into FCPX I simply added the same LUT to each clip.

@@philipwhiteio its a stunning preview LUT. Thats for sure. I only have the Leica classic preview LUT. I do love it but it's not very stylised. I won't ask for access to the LUT you are using but just to say it's very very nice. The look really says its your film thats for sure

So good! Such a pleasure to help you on this one! Still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! You absolutely smashed the shooting on this day! The light is mesmerising throughout, and the emotion in every frame is just perfect, and coincides so well with the track! Bravo!!! When's our next one?! 😂

My Leica SL2S along with a voigtlander 50mm. Basic ND filter I believe. Hope this helps!!

Can’t imagine the stress! What computer was used for the editing? Did you preselect clips before the footage was ingested or did you dump the footage and make selections after it was in the computer? With this amount of stress and anxiety are you charging a premium for this added value?
@philipwhiteio Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what specs @cmckenna had on his Mac book pro but they were pretty reliable! We imported everything and then made the decisions in FCPX. I do usually charge a fee for the same day edit but it was pretty much paid straight to Craig for his editing skills. The SDE was a non negotiable for this couple so I wanted to make it work properly.
@cmckenna Жыл бұрын
@lowerleftside it was an M1 Max MacBook Pro, which did the trick, edited off the internal SSD. Like @philipwhiteweddings says, it was all just brought onto the timeline inside FCPX, and then I pulled out Philip’s best shots, and culled them on the spot as quickly as I could. Most of the time was spent on the song working with the narrative, and the narrative working overall. I spent around 50% of my time ensuring the story worked as well as possible, and then the other 50% adding the clips to tell the story. Philip White was kind / wise enough to tell me which parts of the narrative that he wanted - the opening of the ceremony, which helped to introduce the film and “why we are here”, and then Phil said to use their personal vows, so that was great direction in the moment from Philip. I’d say we had about 40% of the clips prior to the Ceremony starting, and then the other 60% came afterwards. It was pretty nerve racking, as I spent probably too long on the narrative, and really had to speed up to finish the film, but the last SD Card pulled everything together, as Philip brought the best possible clips you could ever want from their dancing, and when paired with the crescendo of the track coming back in hard, it really worked, thankfully. Thanks for paying me well, Philip! Glad it worked out, and I was worth it in the end… hopefully! 😆
