I am surprised that they don't notice the improvement in RMA squad. 1. Brahim is an improvement in place of Asensio. 2. Lunin has been performing at Courtois level. 3. Bellingham is a huge plus. 4. Valverde, Cama, Tchouameni arrive at the top condition. 5. Carvajal has been one of the best players in Madrid this season. 6. The dilemma over LB is solved. Mendy has been very reliable. 7. Last year Madrid lost because of Anceloti’s tactics at etihad. The first leg was a 50/50 game in Bernabeu and the second could have been the same if Ancelotti started Rudiger to mark Haaland and give some space to the other defenders and if he had 4 in the midfield instead of 3 midfielders two of them being 35+. We know Rudiger is starting this year, and we know Madrid will be playing the 4-4-2 and we know that Modric and Kroos won’t start both, that’s already a big improvement for Madrid

Carlo self sabotage aside. This Real Madrid is considerably better than last year. For one and this is a major point, last year we had an inconsistent Benzema who was coming off an injury struck season. This year we have inform Vinicius and Bellingham leading that attack with Brahim Diaz also possibly playing some role in the team. Our Midfield is considerably better this time than last year. The only sore point is the lack of quality CB but against City that doesn't even matter. I think Real Madrid can win this round.

Madrid will have a very different formation and starting XI (4-3-1-2) compared to last season. Bellingham, Tchouameni, Camavinga in midfield instead of at LB, Mendy back at LB, Rudiger at CB in both legs this time, Vini as a striker instead of a pure winger, Joselu and Brahim as options off the bench etc . This will be a totally different tie imo.

Besides losing defenders to injury I think in some aspects Madrid are improved. Bellingham is a game changer and camavinga, valverde and vini are all playing at a higher level. Real Madrid is not the same team that got humiliated last year at Etihad Stadium 4-0 in the semi-final second match. How come UEFA keeps assigning the more important and deciding second match always to MC home field? Very unusual and very unfair. I expect Real do be able to handle and eliminate MC this time. Just like the second leg in the previous season, I believe the team with the better approach and tactics to each game will win. City did not thrash Madrid because their squad was on another level (well they were if you compared them to any team beside Madrid) , they won because of Pep's tactics and the way they completely shut down Madrid's attack. Ancelotti also made some very objectionable decisions that day in choosing his starting 11, and I guess he relied a little too much on individual brilliance from his players. While I think City has the advantage on paper, I won't rule out Madrid because their pride and hunger won't allow a repeat of last year.

Sadly the first match between RM vs MC on April 9th will only be televised in our USA on Paramount+, it is not available on other networks. I do not subscribe to Paramount+, and unfortunately this match is not even televised by any Spanish speaking networks, they are covering the Arsenal-Bayern match. CBS-TV is televising the Arsenal vs Bayern match. I am hoping that CBS-TV will televise the more important second match on Wednesday April 17 between Real Madrid and Manchester City at Etihad Stadium in Manchester. Only time will tell.

My full UCL prediction: The historically four biggest clubs out of the last 8 will advance to the next round. Real Madrid, Bayern, Barcelona and Dortmund. Similar to 2013 it’s going to be La Liga vs Bundesliga in the semis on the road to Wembley. This time the other way round with Real-Bayern and Barca-BVB. Final prediction: Real-BVB Winner: Borussia Dortmund

Except this is not a great Dortmund side like past BVB UCL final sides. Based on this season’s results and current form, BVB and Atlético are the weakest and most inconsistent of all the remaining sides by quite some distance. Yes I know you spank teams like Freiburg and Köln, but then you also lose points to Hoffenheim and Heidenheim recently. And if you can’t raise your game to do better than a 0-3 reverse at home to arch rivals Bayern, there are doubts you can keep out a free scoring Man city or Real Madrid.

Haha Dortmund is neither historic or any good, they were lucky this year, should not even have passed the group stage. Historically average team, had like 2 good seasons in 2013 and 1997, AC Milan or Inter should have been there but not always the best advances in football
