I was always confused by the intro. The intro was two regular guys in a street fight, and the game was called Street Fighter. I got that far. But the actual game was superhumans fighting each other with supernatural/magic powers, and not the kind of thing you would see in an actual street fight.

Some notes: * The ZX Spectrum intro is from a bootleg copy of the game. * In both the Japanese and International Genesis versions, Scott’s sprite was redrawn with higher quality more akin to the Champion Edition portraits, being somewhere between the level of those and the portraits in Super SF2. It is possible Scott and Max would have appeared again in Super, and the updated sprites on the Genesis version are all that remains of the idea. Or maybe the redrawn sprites would have been in Hyper Fighting, but they ran out of time to add them.

I played the arcade version when I was 5. The “Winners don’t use drugs.” line had huge influence on me. Never used and or drank or smoked.

Sega Genesis = Sega Mega Drive. Actually, it was named Genesis only on USA, and Mega Drive on the rest of the world. (Japan, Europe, South America, Asia, Middle East...)

Interesting so the Sega Genesis is the only version where its 2 white guys fighting and some other versions we don't even see two guys fighting. I used to play the hell put of SF II on SNES. Great port.

the higher ups told sega to change the black guy to a white guy because of race issues in the US. supposedly its racist to punch a black guy.

@@SiccDeville lol doesn't surprise me. I am not surprised. Now days forget about it that intro wouldn't fly hahaha. Not that I have a problem with it btw, it's just a game but I know what you mean lol
@ozp3102 жыл бұрын
I had seen somewhere that the decision to change the SFII’ intro to two white guys was to avoid backlash amid racial tensions in US at the time coming off Rodney King verdict and LA riots in ‘92. The change was kinda ahead of it’s time.
@MKF302 жыл бұрын
@@ozp310 Oh that's interesting, I mean yeah back then usually these issues weren't a big deal. I've heard it was also Sega making a big deal about it too where as other versions not so much so who knows.

"Different", not richer. Taste is subjective, it can be good or bad, but it is not an accurate conversion.

I don't know how many have seen it but SF6 released some new content for World Tour Mode due to Terry Bogard being added to the Roster. It's called One Fateful Day/The Knockout Tournament and there is a Cut Scene where Terry arrives in Metro City during the tournament and you can see these two guys from the Intro duking it out HOWEVER its the white dude that gets knocked out this time!
