Man this hits home. I am not elderly but I was in the hospital for 3.5 months had a slew of different nurses most were nice and supportive but some were not. Unfortunately for me I was choking on secretions luckily a passing nurse saw me in distress after I pushed the button 2.5 minutes before I could have died I couldn’t breath. The passing nurses helped my performing an emergency suction.

I actually came across a nurse in Scunthorpe hospital, UK. Who was like this,she forced food down a old woman throat and as the woman spat it back the nurse said starve and walked away. A lady asked for a bed pan and the same nurse said "i have more important things to do " so the woman wet the bed. I had a broken hip and was just out of surgery she said she needed to roll me i said ok give me a minute, she said i don't have a minute and grabbed my damaged hip and rolled me.i wish I had reported her.
