Tac I'm glad i saw video. Very cool! You showed the blades capability better than others who show cased the knife. Great job
@hallgeirgulljord52374 жыл бұрын
I could hardly watch the stabbing part for fear that you would cut yourself :-) Now; the correct sami method is to place the wide end of the handle between your pinky and your ring finger. With a firm grip your hand will not slide forwards and on to the blade. When chopping place the wide part between your middle finger and the ring finger. Then you will chop more efficciently with a litte flick of the wrist, and the knife will not fly out of your hand. Best regards from the high north :-)

My saami relatives make traditional saami knives. They make everything from scratch: handforged blades, they even have slaughtered the reindeer by themselves and uses its antlers to make a handle of (sometimes mixed with different kinds of wood). There is a ton of work and love behind every knife and every detail in them. My father earned his and its still his nr 1 knife since like 30 years back, tho its well used and worn down theres not too much left of the blade, but beauty like this you dont throw away. Next time ill visit my relatives up north ill get my knife. By the way, love your channel.

the sami often caried 2 knifes one big and one smal 4-5 ich ince blade that big one that you use was for claring bushes batoning and help whit butchering the reindeer the smaler one was used to everyting else just a short history lexion ;)

Well there you go brother. Great review. it is a rat tail tang and the steel is "unknown" since Strømeng doesn`t want to share that info with anyone. It is a trusty big old knife. As we said in our review I have had mine for so long i can hardly remember when i got it anymore. Glad you liked it and used it. I understand it is a collectors item for you but it is made to be used :) Keep it up bro. btw it has a "military" version which has a fingerguard. I might send you one of those this year too bro. Damn nice blade. Where can a poor, white, goat rancher buy one of those bad boys? I'd probably put that one away to give to the grandkid when he gets bigger.

Nothing like swinging a razor sharp knife while standing on ice! It is a beautiful knife, but I suspect would make a great camp knife. Food prep (cutting beef jerky for real men) would be easy, and that scandi grind makes it a great cutter. I would like to have one, but it is so pretty I probably wouldn't use it. LOL Thanks for sharing it with us Tac.

I got my Sami knife from Strømeng while I was in the Norwegian Army in 1999. Still have it. Still a very good knife. It's safe to say it's made to last, even when subjected to such harsh treatment as shown here.

According to their website, Stromeng knives are not made of stainless steel. Therefore, this knife cannot be made out of 12C27 Sandvik as you mentioned in this video because 12C27 is a stainless steel.

Definitely a cool knife found it for $110 sold out though but for a knife so big a rat tail tang isn’t good enough for me really should be full tang.

Say Heah Tac't, Pulling on my Vintage Gurka Shaggy Cigar and washing it down with a Diet Pepsi, Watching this video and remembering when I got mine. This video prompt me to get my Steomeng KS-9, Sara Dreaming (what ever happened to her) and you, You, Potlicker, Got your's as gift's grrrrrrr, Well I bought mine. But I also got the KS-5 and the Bhuku STAK. Man It's the lightest nevk knife I have. That's how I use my Stromeng bhuku, It's a 3 1/2" Puuku, But real lite. Infact it's a copy of the knife all participating Olympian's got that participated in the Winter Olympics that year. a real nice Puuku and it matches we'll with my KS-9. The KS-5 is also a Leuku but suggested fir smaller hand's. But I use it mostly for food prep when we go out. All the Stromeng Knives shorter than 7" are stainless in the 12c27. That's the steel Ice Skate blade's are made from. and Mora uses that in their stainless blade's too. Anhow, Lemme check out smote video:s, Nice to see you again.,,.

Hey Tac, did you say how much this costs? This knife looks very similar to a Finnish Knife that was given to me from my grandfather years ago, called a pukko. I remember when I first got the knife, I checked the sharpness and it cut my thumb. I could do the same thing to my Rambo knife and it never cut me.

I feel this is the best tang configuration for a heavy chopping knife as the tang is kept away from your hands and I've used dozens of Billhooks like this very heavily and not broke one yet.

All Scandinavian knives, of this design have one serious flaw, in common. No hilt and/or finger guard. The handle is smooth wood, oftentimes lacquered. When your hand gets wet on that handle, watch out...
