13:07 I feel like it does that because when playing with a start pos, all the triggers to the left of the player activate when they should have and therefore work, but this happens before the icon starts moving. Then the icon crosses the trigger, therefore activating it a second time. Leaving that behind, very good video! Enjoyed and learned a lot!

I liked how you explain things. It's just like everyone can understand you without repeating the video, and the thing I liked the most about move trigger is the "Move to Target" because it helped me a lot while making minigames or cool looking details in levels. Also, the next trigger guide should be the rotate trigger, it's almost like the move trigger as in gui and how simple it is to master.

1. Lock to player x and y. Really useful in some cases, e.g. bossfight levels. 2. A bit less useful, but you can make fake orbs by moving ones that you already used to a new place - you would want to gice the player time to react as the gameplay is not what they might expect. 3. Reverse-engineering this, you can reduce the object count a bit with multi activate orbs and move triggers.

@xeriox164 жыл бұрын
13:10 i think the game is like : -"ok , there was a trigger somewhere that should be activate when the player is at this xposition in the level" So the game sync the trigger with your xposition (since you started at the exact xposition that activate the trigger, the sync is easy, it's 0s after the activation of the trigger, SO it is like you just activated it) BUT the game is also like : -"ok, the startposition is at this xposition so i place the player there. Now i can do the usual thing and let the player play the level." And at this moment the level is like : -"there is a trigger here so (in this case) i move the block." Now the game think everything is fine but it just activated the trigger two times.

I dont think many people realize it but sticking an object to the player allows you to yeet other objects targeted on the player. Together with spawn triggers that repeatedly trigger themselves you can make fully functioning and infinitely looping ais of several flexible patterns.

Wow. This helps a lot. I rarely use move triggers in my levels unless Im using them to make a custom background fallow a player so maybe now, with the help of this video, I can actually use move triggers without players wanting to pick me up and hurl me across the room untill my relatively low IQ somehow manages to find its way into the negatives. I was having a hard time understanding the different types of easing. They all looked very similar lmao. This helps a lot though. I had no idea that the "target" option was a thing either so now I can use the "yeeting" technique as well.
@pettanshrimpnazunasapostle19924 жыл бұрын
IMO the best easing to use in general is sine in and sine out as they allow for natural and smooth movements.bounce is good for 'falling' objects.back in and out are good but idk what to use them for.exponentials are good for objects which have to move long distances fast.ease in and out is a little janky so i dont use it often.this is just me throwing out some uses that i like,no need to take my word for it
@grenategd25474 жыл бұрын
Also, some easings e.g ease out has a function that lets you choose the speed of the easing anywhere from 1 to 4.

Short explanation of each easing: Ease: pretty much just smoothly moves the object Bounce: gives a slam effect at the end and/or beginning Sine: like ease, but smoother Exponential: like sine, but even smoother. Elastic: Exponential on crack Back: goes a back a little bit, and then moves normally. In/out: dictates when the easing happens. In means the easing happens at the beginning, while out means it happens at the end.

Very good video Sami, quite useful. For a future chapter, an explanation of how to make structures with a good 3D would be of great help to me and to many people. Also if you turn the dash orb to the most possible degree up, put a block above and make it follow you by X axis and move for like 10 blocks with different easing, then playtest, you can get a graph of cube movement - when the graph is stable, cube's speed is s/t. If it is unstable is higher than usual. Idk how it helps you
