Truly excellent, clear and comprehensive explanation!! I am a bit surprised that it so hard to find information of this kind, although it doesn't seem so difficult for someone who is "on site" to collect and explain . Apparently one needs instead a communication degree like Sam does 😃

Honestly my guess is more European citizens will come to east Asia to find a career job. What would you think Sam? U.S is just very hard market place to get into for many. The competition level is very high (as I have worked in U.S I kinda feel this way). So is EU where many Europeans can just move around EU regions to even reside easily but I think Europe needs more career jobs for young people who just graduated from college to be a professional worker. They kept doing internships...not having a actual job when I stayed in Europe for a short period. To make a financial independence we need a place where young people can find a "career" with the job they have in rhe future. I'm very glad you found a job that gives you new opportunities! Wish you all the best sam! I watch your video to check out Japan a bit

Thank you so much for posting this! I've been on a never-ending hunt to find info about getting a job/visa with a marketing background and have found that useful info on the topic is VERY hard to come by. I'm hoping to move back to Tokyo in 2022. I was an english teacher for a year in 2017. That experience alone taught me that the ALT life was personally, not sustainable for me. It's great to hear that the marketing field is very open to foreign applicants.

There is a 4th way to get a Japanese work visa, granted if you are a 2nd or 3rd degree japanese descendent (If the parents or grandparents are originally born in Japan). Extends automatically to wife or husband even if they are not japanese descendents. It is a specific condition that started in the mid 1980's with brazilian citizens (the largest japanese descendents community in the world is in Brazil) due to the lack of workpower in japanese factories. Over the years, they started to grant work visa for descendents in Peru (the 2nd japanese community) and other nationalities. Now, in 2019, the brazilian government is requesting the visa to be granted to the 4th degree descendents. In a society thats getting older and smaller like the japanese, workpower is a very scarce resource. And it seems that the japanese government don't have another option than opening the doors to foreign labor.

Yeah I am pretty sure that your english ought to be considered more than just fluent. I´ve spend a bit more than a year in the US myself and I do believe that my english is pretty good (though a bit rusty right now). Your english on the other hand is comparable to native english. Whenever I had any kind of english class in school or at the university I always hated to listen to everyone else talking because of that THICK german accent but had´nt I known that your from germany I would have assumed that your an american. Considering that most japanese speak very little english ... and that they wanted you to babysit their child it shouldn´t have even come up at all ^^.

First of all, I want to thank you for the effort and dedication that you put on your videos. Your appealing personality makes them even better (obviously I don’t know you in person but it’s just the vibes I guess). Anyways, I want to talk you about my current situation: I’ve a degree in Oriental Studies (Japanese specialist) and a master in International Trade. I lived in Japan for a year (2012-2013) as a university student and I’m currently working as an export manager for a wine company in Spain (I’m Spanish, by the way). Nevertheless, I find many difficulties to apply for a job in Japan and as time goes by I’m running out of options (not that young anymore) and don’t have a clue as to what to do next in order to get a working visa. It’s very frustrating actually, ‘cause I would love to live there once more and for a much longer period if possible. I’m aware that you won’t be able to solve other persons problems, of course. Just want to share it with you. 🙂🇯🇵

Hi Lorenzo! Thanks for the comment :) you can try applying from overseas but that generally has a very low success rate :/ I feel like it’s easier if you already have a visa, you could try visiting language school for 6 months (student visa) and job hunt while you’re in japan! You’re eligible to work 28 hours on a student visa so you could possibly transition into a full time role if you play your cards right :) good luck!

I'm a kindergarten teacher from Germany. Came here right after graduation, didn't have much work experience, no bachelor degree and got a 3 year work visa right away😉 Never had a problem with work visa in Japan and I'm living here since 2010.
@SamInTokyoo5 жыл бұрын
Wow immigrations sure got stricter since then! But once you already had a work visa it’s much easier to get another one and now you have the experience 👍🏻 if you’ve been here since 2010 then you’re almost eligible for permanent residency :o
@Marimo_-qj6kb5 жыл бұрын
My friend did the same and came a few years later. I think it depends on the profession and if it's needed in Japan. There are so many international schools, but most foreigners who work there don't have a degree in education and no experience and the quality of the schools isn't good. Kids learn English but aren't properly educated. (A nightmare to watch for a real teacher!) Maybe that's why the government accepts us German teachers although it isn't a bachelor degree. We are professionals in early childhood education, it takes 4 years to study, just like a bachelor study in Japan and we are state certified. So why shouldn't we be allowed to work in Japan?😀✌️

I work in a hotel now. They are in need of foreigners now as they are afraid of they won't be able to handle the foreigner visitors when the Olympics come next year. So if someone doesn't mind not having an office job, that's an easy path as well. You need to speak proper Japanese, even keigo, but there are not as many kanji reading as you would do in a classic office job.

Easier to get a job for foreigners in the fields like English teacher IT, AI, Robotic, Bio, etc. (Japanese not much needed) Tourism marketing Export marketing Designer Bilingual job in any field But IT workers are most wanted and needed desperately in Japan right now. @@SamInTokyoo My Japanese is currently so-so, but I'm open to learning more. Samko, I will comment again. I'm hollowed out on your instagram. There are so many photos of Japan. I really like Japan. How would you like to stay in Japan forever if you like? It may be an extra thing, but people from any country are welcome, I want you to marry and live happily.

Congratulations! Next is to catch Japanese boy. To be able to cook a few Japanese cuisines is necessary and enough.
