Being black and going to church has nothing to do with it and neither does being from the ghetto, depending on how literal you want to take the lyrics. Must say the more literal you take it though, the less you are getting out from the song.

Also, do you honestly believe our God is one that is so fickle that he would deny another believer? Regardless of established “religion” they are still fundamentally the same, God would not deny any who has followed a righteous path. Plain and simple. He wants all of his children home. Also think of it this way: you as a person would know that not everyone will believe in one thing but they will believe in similar things therefore why would God not allow multiple religions in order for all of his children to come home.
