Sammo is really underrated in the west. I always loved how his fights were actual fights. I like Jackie Chan but his fights rely too much on stunts and gimmicks.

Great tribute to the great Sammo! Admittedly, when I started out collecting Kung fu movies last year, it was mostly Jackie Chan movies since I'd grown up watching many of them, but as I started delving in further into the 80s Hong Kong stuff, my attention turned mainly toward Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao's movies. Project A, Wheels on Meals, Eastern Condors, Prodigal Son, Knockabout, The Victim, Warriors Two, etc... on and on Sammo's carousel of kickass spins in perpetuity. Sammo's action is fantastic no matter what movie you find it in. Even the more mediocre movies as you said still are brought up with his amazing fights. Definitely a class act and fantastic director.

Awesome video on the legacy of the one and only Sammo Hung he is truly amazing and has done so much in this genre and I'm so glad we got to discover his craft.I still have yet to see all his work but from what I've seen like Eastern Condors to Warrior's Two truly are classics of the genre and can't wait to watch Pedicab Driver and Enter the Fat Dragon.He is number 1 in my list for sure.Thanks again for your tribute to the legend lol.

Director and choreography wise, Lau Kar Leung and Yuen Woo Ping are the pinnacle. Stunt Wise, Jackie’s stunt team is at the top. Sammo is probably the most well rounded and has the most longevity so I could see an argument for him. Jackie surpasses him for me because he has internationally acclaimed films and reached a level of influence much higher. Had a cartoon and a video game based on him. Jackie’s best movies are generally considered better than Sammo’s best. Directorial wise and as an actor. When we label a GOAT it’s usually a unanimous pick for Bruce Lee because he innovated so much and paved the way for so many in the genre. My personal GOAT is Lau Kar Leung. He was an actual Hung Gar grandmaster and had the most authentic martial arts knowledge out of anyone in Hong Kong. When you watch him you’re watching real Kung fu 100% of the time.

Imo Sammo is a better martial arts choreographer and director judging on his whole body of work though I think Police Story is better than any Sammo directed movie. I don’t think he’s a better actor because Jackie has pretty decent range in his serious films. Jackie is also a better stunt director

As for acting.... eight taels of gold, painted faces prove sammo's talent as an actor. Sammo also won 2 best actor awards whereas Jackie never won. Jackie range when u consider his films aint much.

@@AZAR7787 Imo I haven’t seen a Sammo performance surpass Jackie in Shinjuku Incident or New Police Story. Though I think Sammo was amazing in Heart of Dragon. And while Eastern Condors is great, it’s not better than Police Story. Police Story is probably the greatest stunt film ever made. I think Eastern Condors stands shoulder to shoulder with Armour of God 2. Sammo directed more great films, but none quite reached the same level. Plus in movies starred in, I don’t think Sammo has anything better than Drunken Master II. But if I were to only have one person’s movies I’d pick Sammo because he has so many great ones and they’re all quality. Jackie was inconsistent especially later in his career.

@@aquaticlibrary New police story & Shinjuku are basically the same kind of performance where jackie is hamming up the crying scenes. Sammo has played those kind of roles & he's also played better villainous roles SPL whereas Jackie never has (wheres the so called range?). Eastern condors is definitely as great as police story & u can never convince me otherwise. Shanghai express is better than armour of god 2. Drunken master 2 barely measures upto prodigal son which is a much better traditional martial arts film & still regarded as sammos greatest.

@@AZAR7787 when it comes to traditional Kung fu movies Sammo for sure has a huge edge. But Drunken Master 2 is considered one of the greatest films ever, like even on non-martial arts films lists. Even by Time Magazine lol Prodigal Son is one of my favorite movies period but I know where it objectively stands
