He did not play drums for Frank, he was part of the Rat Pack which was a group on entertainers which the leader was Frank. Sammy was a great dancer, singer, musican, actor, impressionist, and in many peoples opinions the greatest entertainer that ever lived.

Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Joey Bishop were the Rat Pack - I totally forgot Sammy could play the drums - great dancer and singer - he sang with Sinatra - this stuff was just a side act - he did not drum with Sinatra - he was just messing around here

There was a group called the 'Rat Pack' and Sammy was part of it with Sinatra, Dean Martin and a couple of others. You have to see them on stage together to see a real good time 🙂 A musical genius but you didn't get to see him dance, sing or do gun tricks.

The original rat pack leader was Humphrey Bogart with Mickey Rooney, Jerry Lewis, Leena Horne, Nat King Cole, Liz Taylor, Ava Gardner, Sinatra and A few others. The name eas bestowed upon them by Lauren Bacall claiming they looked like a bunch of rats upon returning from an all nighter to LV. By the sixties Sinatra, Martin, and Davis were marketing the heck out of it for stage and screen. Sam? An Aussie friend of mine saw him in Sidney around 92 and said it was a full on two hour entertainment onslaught.

I didn't know about the drumming, but it sorta makes sense : Sammy was a professional Tap Dancer (he started as a child as part of his dad's act). Gregory Hines kissed Sammy's tap shoes (while Sammy stood in them) during a tribute celebration for Sammy's 60th back in 1990.
