The cutscene is still about Alex assisting to Sammy's abduction even with the new elements that were included. I.V is going to introduce also some new things from a story perspective that weren't present in the original story or that emphasize more some old aspects. There are some other previews in this channel that indicate that in case you were curious. By watching this cutscene, having a full context of the original story will help you only to notice that more clearer hints were presented about the nature of the world and of the events around the protagonist. Like Sammy being in the room with him, and that room being connected to the Factory Hotel. The same room where his Inner Monologues take place ;).

I feel like the commentary they had on people treating "Semi's" disappearance, where people were treating her death like a fun ghost story for their entertainment is a little undermined when the abduction is so fucking spectacular, or maybe it's strengthened idk 🤷‍♂

I think the symbolism is a bit stronger, with Sammy being dragged into a digital space and she gets pixelated... like a representation of the video Alex was watching of her being taken away. (Which i mean... the whole MD was basically just symbolic of that anyway so idk)

Considering this scenario has always essentially been Alex's weirdo fanfiction about her rather than a real event he witnessed, it absolutely works better. The Factory Hotel now has a lot more imagery that contributes to the players ability to decode the storytelling.
