Not everyone who comments is guessing. My mother's ex-boyfriend was Anthony Mirra (Mirra never came close to harming Mom or another girlfriend he later had in the building). I lived directly through some of these stories though not the ones involving most of these people and was in NYC in the 1970s and 1980s, when the Mafia was barely in the top 100 things people had to worry about; it was ORGANIZED crime and mostly they just made vice run well.
