As with most character deaths in Maniac Mansion, Dave largely did this to himself.

The easiest way to accidentally kill a kid is to leave them in the pool - the other deaths are pretty obvious that they're going to happen.

this is an old point and click game from the 1980s for the commodore 64, its called maniac mansion, and this was the first in the series of very popular point and click games, which continued into the PC era (day of the tentacle (which is part2 to this game), monkey island, loom, etc)

and this is just one of the many possible end sequences to this game, it takes a few hours from start to finish.
