I love this! That's fascinating that AI voice can replicate them like this, there are definitely some hiccups but I think this was a great experience.

Intonation is quite good... Especially the narrator. Voices are perfect... This is the best use case for AI, I think. Normally this would be very expensive but it's now possible for a modder or indie developer to use these tools to elevate their work to another level. Impressive.

This is interesting. It’s clearly AI, but it’s kind of cool it can replicate Gary Owens’ voice so well. Oddly enough, I imagined SQ 5 being narrated by Gary once in a daydream:

Holy moly, the Gary Owens AI voice is spot on! This is great stuff! Though i have to admit, i prefer Jeff Bender as Roger (SQ4). Also, Dilandau3000 has forever spoiled me with his Star Trek inspired voices for these characters :D Nevertheless, what a great project!

I think the voice acting for Roger isn't as good. I understand the AI model used the SQ6 version of Roger Wilco. I much prefer the SQ4 voice actor for Roger.

You know, in the abstract I wouldn't mind AI voices in a no-budget fan project... But stealing the voice of a dead person is creepy and disrespectful, no matter who's doing it.

Neither the creator of this mod or Lucas Films is making a cent out of these. Experimentation like this is one of the few things these unethically trained models are good for.

But...why? Don't you think a blanket reaktion like that lacks a bit of nuance? Yes, a great many companies are abusing the tech for unethical purposes. But that doesn't mean the tech itself is unethical. Nestle is unethically selling water. Are you going to stop drinking water and supporting anyone that stocks it?

Hey nick. Go back to stamp collecting because video games aren't for you. I use an AI mod in my self-hosted World of Warcraft server. I normally hate AI voices but for games with dialog, it can be useful - ESPECIALLY for disabled folks who have trouble reading. I guess you don't care about that do you.
