How cool of an area! Getting to spot elk, deer, and bighorn all in the same spot is awesome.

It’s not always about coming home with an animal. That’s just an added bonus. The views, camaraderie, time invested in learning the animals and landscape, along with just being out there... that’s what hunting’s all about! Great cinematography and content! So true of your ending quote! Keep it up! Keep the hunt alive!

It really is worth hiking into an area to escape the pumpkin patch, especially if you have good folks with you to share the experience. That country is so similar to a Grande Ronde River spot I hunt that it made my legs sore just watching! Great stuff!

Thanks for these videos Sam. I really appreciate the advice about not shooting deer in difficult to access areas. This was my second year hunting (also in eastern WA) and the only mammals I saw were chipmunks, squirrels, and about 20 other hunters. I’m looking at some of the better opportunity GMUs for next year deer and elk season, but will need to scout all next summer. Going to try and do some fly-fishing/scouting trips out of Spokane.

Have a hunting buddy who used a 30-06 for many years took many animals and this year he bought a 6.5 creedmore ... I told him the 06 was the the most versatile cartridge we will see how he fairs this season... I don’t use either cartridge but I see you changed this year as well ... happy hunting and I like your videos 👍🏼
@SammyMoore-tg5gs3 ай бұрын
The .30-06 was cutting edge technology 118 years ago. It was designed with body taper to allow for inconsistent powder loads to go off inside the chamber and still be extracted. It was also designed to have loose chambers to account for the poor tolerance of mass manufacturing back then. The creedmoor is a cartridge designed to take advantage of advances in manufacturing consistency, bullet technology, and more stable powders. It’s precise design and tolerances give it the accuracy advantage over the .30-06, and its reduction in recoil means it’s more enjoyable for anyone to shoot, from beginner to expert.

Question - I’m going on my first back country hunting trip in Virginia blue ridge mountains. We will be camping in a hot tent with a wood stove. It’s all fire retardant and checks those boxes. But, my question is do you all worry about cooking on your wood stove in bear country like that. Thanks in advance!
@SamongOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
It's not too much of a concern depending on the bear population. It's never a bad idea to undergo recommended precautions regarding bears and food though.

just because that buck was chasing does doesn't mean hes the biggest buck in that valley, during the pre rut (mid october to early nov) the young bucks will always chase does first the big boys hold out for later on, honestly would be a mistake to leave that area you guys saw all that wildlife imo, i would sit those draws for days if i seen what you saw, the big ones dont get big by being dumb..., depending on when your season ends, id go back there a little later closer to the rut, no doubt a big guy will show up.
