Also fish the lower Columbia and have 15 to 20 fish days, you should look into a trip. Keep up the great content.

Good stuff. But i have a few advice that i do. I noticed you use a 25lb mono for your weight, u should use like a 10lb mono for your weight. So if your weight snags, itll break off the weight only. Not your whole leader. Also maybe consider using pyramid sinker? It may hold better and not drift around. And last considered switching to braid for mainline.. good luck!

All these tips are really great. I catch 5 ft. sturgeon on an medium 6ft. ugly stick, bass pro shop spinning reel with 12-20lb. test monofilament. For bait I use a gob of night crawlers with crayfish attractant. If I have 2 poles set up, the sturgeon will, 80% of the time bite on the Iighter line. Also the crayfish scented attractant on the night crawlers, seems to up my odds significantly. I just use my drag and take my time, it's fun!

@SamongOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Technically, yes I could've released it. However, don't take my two very lucky keepers as a sign of easy fishing. I'm one of the very few and lucky fishermen this year to have tagged out on two keepers. I know a handful of people who have caught well over 50 sturgeon each this year and have not landed 1 single keeper. It's tough fishing despite me being extra lucky this year!

Spawn net works great for the only real dead bait I use abd it's for fresh water giant catfish and it keeps the hotdogs and bait on perfect must have if using delicate easy to lose bait. But sturgeon is what I miss most about living I'm north bay Ontario as a kid and my parents got me crayfish traps I set emm in creeks and lakes and would catch tons of them to bring home and have a crawfish boil like we do down here in the south. All the guys at the racetrack my parents owned thought we was crazy doing a crawfish boil xuse nobody does it except very small area in the south does it and they all was hooked cuse beer goes perfect with it but qe had to order the boil seasonings and stuff like that as well can't get it qt all in cannada. So when your a kid from south Georgia and Alabama then gotta move to cannada due to my dad being in airforce you just catch your own. Riding my bike down the side walk with my little trailer on my bike and my traps full of crayfish everyone thought I was crazzy or never new you can boil then abd eat emm lol. I would get about 60 lbs I would catch every time I set the traps out over night down the creek or off piers on shallow rocky parts of lakes abd catch monster crawdads and they are so much cleaner then the swamp ones down here to so that was a huge plus in taste

I love fishing doen here on gulf coast catching spec trout flounder and red fish and sheep head but I miss cannada due to sturgeon and walleye fishing. I use only artificial ever and no live or dead bait for sturgeon and I used same hig head and soft plastic every time for sturgeon and killing them jigging they catch it on the drop sane with the saltwater stuff I said above same soft plastic eel everytine and 3/8 mirrorlure jig head and that's it abd I limit out in 45 minutes for both types of fishing on every weekend sonedats longest is 2 hours ever for the sake water I said above nice setup man love it. Abd I use baroness jig heads abd hooks only especially in salt water abd bass fishing so if they swallow it less chance in killing a gut hooked under size fish so it lives and adds a little more challenge if the way you fish is to easy lol. And I love sturgeon so much due to that they are a true definition of a water born and living dinosaur them things have been here for millions of years and still look like their prehistoric relatives with sane plates and Armour abd teeth to
