The village where I go every time in Samos, and so do many others. Through the Aidonia Nightingale grove there is a road ascending up to 300+ meters and you can see the steep hills around you storing the coolnes of mountain clouds watery. There is a local farmer at the port of village, keeping a snack bar called Pigi ("water flow"). The bar is full of flowers and scenery towards the hills. Man is well speaking english host and wife working at kitchen making local specialities. If you ask them you'll get some information about Manolates. Their kids are running at your feet with all cats, and the local people are stepping by in and out. The snack bar really is a busy port towards the quiet village where are only few lanes, let's say 1-3 lanes to walk in and out of village. You can leave your car or bike to the parking area at the roof the village which is situated straight after Pigi, just keep driving few meters more. You will find a local church and the highest point where is a natural pathway continuing to the second village. Very fascinating path at all greenery to step in, but I never been equipped to really hike there more than few meters more. And easily you will find artisans making handcrafts, one specially interesting couple with their local herbs, academical books of Samos, orthodox CD music, black and white fotos and oil canvas artworks. Finally after cool temperature and moisture of mountains you will return to a hot seaside feeling refreshed. Thank You Manolates! Can't wait to see you again !
