Have to be honest. My, Samoyed, loved us. That said, she was the most violent and murderous animal I have ever seen. Mice, birds, rabbits; she even killed a turkey once. I saw her casually snap the neck of a mouse that dared cross her path. She didn't even break her stride. Just went in the house like an action hero without looking back. She was disturbingly intelligent. I remember her having an existential crisis over wanting her ball and her ring toy at the same time. She looked at both for a second, put the ring on and around the ball and went her merry way. She taught herself how to climb the chain link fence around the yard so she could go visit the horses across the road. She liked to be cleaned every couple weeks and would make a show of getting in the tub and glaring at anyone who noticed until she got what she was after. That dog was amazing. I miss her.

As a groomer I love these dogs,HOWEVER so many pet parents don’t take the time to brush these guys out. These dogs get easily matted so if you are considering getting one, then know they need lots of care. People always care about pretty breeds, but never actually take in account the maintenance for these breeds.
@rainbowgirl9494942 жыл бұрын
I would die to have one of these fluffy clouds but I also watch owners uploading videos of them showing the amount of fur the dog sheds & them brushing for hours regularly. I love this breed but I don’t have the amount of time, energy & money to take care of them properly. also I wish people would consider the climate of the country they live in. these dogs need colder environment not a full on summer of suffering

I hate when people are selfish and don’t consider the needs of a living creature they chose to take in
@lillipup_tamer11482 жыл бұрын
I feel like people struggle to understand that all dogs have coat maintenance. If it is a double coat, even on a little terrier like mine, you have to brush it. If it’s a short coat, you will have horrible seasonal shedding. Most hypoallergenic dogs cost a lot to groom because they are hypoallergenic because they don’t shed much, but that fur has to be maintained.

@@thekingofgamers3350 which is good, however people get breeds because at least they know genetics and can prepare for any illnesses in the breeds. That’s how it was explained to me, when my parents told me they were getting two purebred puppies, both apart of the double coated fluff butts. (Malamutes.) Years later, they have a giant pack of 7 that was once 10 members, malamutes aren’t my parents first dogs but their first purebred dogs they owned. (My parents before getting the big fluffs, they used to be fosters for a large pet organization, from cats and dogs. While also capturing strays and taking them to the pet organization. They stopped after many years of fostering and gotten their own dogs, both love dogs but at the time didn’t live in a reasonable area, until a relative asked if my parents would take a pup; whose original owners didn’t pay nor met the timeframe that was given for pickup. (Relative did breed malamutes but stopped because of the male was no longer breeding anymore.) (TLDR; it’s great for adopting from shelters, it’s just that some people would prefer breeds for knowing the health benefits and knowing what the dogs could get. Along with getting a heads up, to save money.

They require a lot - and I mean A LOT of maintenance if you are to do them justice so please consider *very* carefully before you buy a Samoyed. They needs lots of excercise (a big yard if possible) and a massive commitment to grooming. You will have fluff tumbleweeds everywhere, especially during moulting season. But they are the most gentle, loving and above all, friendly, breeds of dog I've ever come across. They are pure sunshine in the shape of fluffly clouds.

People want specific breeds for various reasons Some need a dog that doesn't make them allergic. Some want a dog for a certain characteristic, like better with really young children, or a good guard dog. I had my Sam because I could spin his shed hair into beautiful yarn. And he was very human friendly. Don't judge. You never know you might get to a point when you have a specific need. Samoyeds wouldn't make good guide dogs for the blind or disabled, that's why those are mostly labs, or lab mixes.

@WhiteCalla or buy them from families. But don't buy from breeders.

@WhiteCalla this might be a personal pet peeve of just a mind. Who cares about the breed of your dog? literally going out and buying a specific breed is literally going out and only being friends with a specific race.

@@craig2196 and you can also adopt dogs from the shelter which is great in my opinion and you are also doing a good deed if you're doing that

I have two purebred samoyed, one of them my family got when she was 2 and around $500, my other dog was like 8 months old for around $700 dollars. Then they had puppies and we sold each of them for around $1200 dollars, I’ll miss them tho they were really cute.

Why would I spend money on a dog? A dog its supposed to be a companion, not an object you brag about.

Agreed. If i wanted to have company, I'd just give out food to stray dogs. There are plenty on streets in India

My grandmother gifted one of these dogs for me because I was scared of dogs. He was very territorial and my mom bonded with him. His price was always held over my head when I said he was never my dog. I didn't pick him out. I didn't want him. If I had the chance to pick out a dog, I would have wanted to go to the shelter, not a breeder. If you buy something for your child, get their opinion about it before spending thousands on it. Don't get me wrong, I loved my moms dog. I helped take care of him. I just didn't like that he was from a breeder and nothing about getting him was my choice, even though he was bought for me. I wanted cats, not a dog.

Another fact about Sammies - They howl like huskies! There’s no feeling like walking in your front door and just seeing an eruption of fluffy dogs running towards you, howling!

To anyone reading this, if you are considering getting a dog or a cat, please get one from a shelter cause that's a dog or cat that could've lived the rest of their lives with you.
@ender7805 Жыл бұрын
I firmly believe in adopt or shop responsibly. Good breeders KEEP dogs out of shelters. Instead of just boycotting all breeders we should be trying to shut down the bad ones. Shelters are for sure a great option if you want a pet but they’re definitely not for everyone!
@VexKingYoutube Жыл бұрын
@@ender7805 Yeah, my dog Daisy came from a good breeder she only has a few siblings and their home was immaculate.

I agree some breeders are legit, but please consider shelters and breed rescue groups because: About 4 million dogs (and cats) are put down annually because there AREN'T enough homes for them! (pre-pandemic stats) If adopting from a breeder, PLEASE spay or neuter to stop perpetuating the cycle!
@saba347 Жыл бұрын
@@ender7805 However, they're adding to the pet overpopulation! Millions of pets are without homes each year!

Samoyed breeder and lover here. Actually the price is closer to 500 dollars here in East Europe where we have more breeding parents and therefore the risk of inbreeding is minimal. If anyone needs more info I'm happy to answer any questions.
