I started out playing online in the freshman rank and was 4-0, I got a loss in JV due to Internet issues then won 2 straight then I faced an opponent who was running plays and playing good defense like I was and he beat me by 5 playing with the Spurs and I faithfully play with the Timberwolves. I was lacking space in my offense Online and offline as I'm 0-6 playing on Superstar in my GM. I watched a few videos at first when SamPham started posting to KZbin and now I watch them everyday to catch up and my game has improved greatly. I recently ran the Pace offense and I had wide open shots all over the floor, added the flush and and had some nice dunks in the lane. Finally my offense was running fluid and I got my first W. It was insane Rubio had only 3 points but had 21 assists and 7 rebounds which I've never done before I think my highest was 12. Thanks SamPham I will continue to watch your tutorials and improve my game and hopefully see you on the court one day. I'm always looking for a good game if you want to play me @ C_LOS_2K.

Your tips are the real deal, I've been playing 2K since the beginning and this years version has been the best yet. I used to just run and gun but and and let the CPU call my plays. I never knew how to use the Pace Motion Offense till I watched this video and it's a perfect fit for my game. Thanks for the tips Phamily and I'll keep watching and supporting your movement in the 2k community.

Bro, your vids fill a void that NO ONE on youtube has filled. Unbelievably informative and easy to follow. Perfect explanations with dry run and live runs....just awesome. Constructive criticism - drastically reduce the facecam time, specifically after the intro. I skip through it cuz I can't stand being told to sub/like/comment/etc in every single video. If people like ur shit then they will sub. No one needs to be told to do so, especially in every single video. This is a minor gripe tho. Like I said you know your shit and you're the best in the game for 2k strategy/tutorials. NO ONE does it better! Thank you!

this scheme is crazy good. started running it as soon as I got the game, 34-3 as the rockets online, in the NBA online league winning trophies in every league so far. key is calling isos, utilizing the PnR and moving the ball around. shooters get open consistently

I just feel freelance defeats the purpose of actually being in control. I know this is for people who dont call plays so it helps create motion within the offense even when those settings are arent fixed to.show plays. My point is though, for people who actually run freelance correctly with the playart to.show all and settings to select who your offense runs through, you mgjt as well run your own plays because these plays are being called from the playbook. I love calling plays though because you know exactly what you're going to get depending on the situation

I've been using pace motion with my point guard in myCareer and it's beautiful. I might not get as many assists as with the default motion because I end up swinging the ball for that extra pass before the basket, but we get the points and that's what matters. With the pace in tandem with the set plays and some easy dimes to the post man, our offense is beautiful. Now I just have to figure out how to get my teammates to stop leaving the shooters open so often.

Hey SamPham. I'm having trouble with the corner action off the 1st set - There never seems to be an angle from the corner to hit the Centre - most of the time I'm giving up steals to the other team :(
@SamPhamNBA2KTipsandTutorial9 жыл бұрын
+Tom Chounpanh That one is a situational action, if it isn't there don't force it :) You gotta get the big to roll nicely plus make sure the corner guy isn't being guarded tightly :)
@TheInvaderz9 жыл бұрын
It totally works fine with me, the freelance pace works wonderfully with me. However, when you noted out that you'll always have a wing on the right in the video and one on the left, and a center always rolling through the paint. Thats right but its not always the same. Somehow for some reason, I notice that both PF and C go right on the periemeter, and sometimes the PF goes up on the periemeter, and when I run the play, the player that tends to be open on corner is either the PF or C which unables me to convert the open shot. Despite the fact that I can manage playing through that, arent their any ways where i would ensure every player is at his position? Regards,
@SamPhamNBA2KTipsandTutorial9 жыл бұрын
Make sure you call the pick for the Center in set 1. As for the 4 man filling the top of the key during the roll, that's no big deal because you can swing it with him to the sides to trigger the auto plays. You need a shooting PF for pace because it is a 4-1 set constantly.

So I have a question, but about defending these kinds of offences. Please let me know if you disagree, but I have the feeling that Pace and 4-1 are a bit easier to stop than the swing or the warriors by using the defensive settings. I started the game using the 4-1, now I'm on the Warriors Motion. The Warriors is hard to run (for me) and do read and react but gives you tons of options all the time but I'm turning the ball over a lot (avg about 10. bad passes, either spacing or forcing). So the question is, do you think that those (swing and warriors) are offences that are harder to stop through defensive settings?
@SamPhamNBA2KTipsandTutorial9 жыл бұрын
+Ichi Ninja Pace Motion Cuts is a super star driven offense. You get two offensive stars running that scheme with shooters, doesn't matter what you do the defense will BLEED points. As for the swings those are big man oriented offence you need good passing bigs with post up skills. Also if you don't have a lot of smart passers and a patient personaility, those swing type offence will lead to tons of turnovers. Swing offences are easier to stop because they encourage slightly more crowding. A pace motion with stars is un-guardable. Don't run the 4-1 anymore haha pace motion is 4-1 maximized. A well run swing offence is better than Pace; BUT you have to run it well. Otherwise is too slow and really turnover prone.
@ichininja58929 жыл бұрын
+Sam Pham NBA2K Tips and Tutorial Thank you for the reply. That reply was gold to me. In quick matches I usually use the Spurs and Swing (or Warriors) and have a lot of fun with it, but in RTTP not so much. In RTTP I use Draymond at PF so yeah, no post moves there. I'll switch to pace on RTTP and keep practicing the swing on quick matches. It's interesting you mention personality, I do feel that my game varies a lot with my mood and focus. I like running quick 4 out 1 in offences this year (especially compared to last year), but when I score from a swing offence... I think I'm the 2013/14 Spurs :) Again, thank you. That will help me choose what to run, especially adjusting according to my mood. (it may sound weird, but this was one of the best piece of advices I got from all the great content you post)

Hey Phamily, going back to this offense, I know last year the phamily was running pace/freelance, this year you suggest motion cuts. I've tried both, they are similar, but I'm curious as to why you keep it motion cuts? Is it because of the consistent action and spacing? I noticed in Pace/Freelance if the pick comes from the C it doesn't always send you to the corner side, therefore we wont know exactly who is where and when, is that why we keep it motion cuts?

hey sam. . are u still in the bucks play book with Houston on the freelance
@SamPhamNBA2KTipsandTutorial9 жыл бұрын
+Jay Foriest No play book necessary for this. I am on pace for the freelance with motion cuts as the action. Not Houston ^^

Nice!!! I would also suggest trying out the princeton chin. I'm having tons of success with it using my Lakers :D

Do you pretty much always use icon passing to get it to the roll man? because you do it so fast. In my world the icons hang above everyones head for around a second before I make the pass and by then its usually a turnover :(

So, how would you build a MyTEAM around this offense? Looks like it needs a stretch four, and depends pretty heavily on the 1 and 5 P&R as the bread and butter to get things going. Right now my lineup looks like this: - Stephen Curry - Klay Thomson - Kawhi Leonard - Blake Griffin - Anthony Davis Is Steph the ideal PG for this, or is a slashing point guard like RWB better? What kind of stretch four has the defense, rebounding and shooting to make this unstoppable? PG24, KD, Ibaka, Draymond, Dirk? Just not sure what the ideal lineup for this is. What do you think?

What do you think if I run this set together with the Bucks playbook? Is this set recommended for running the double dragon? so when it fails i can go back to freelance?
@SamPhamNBA2KTipsandTutorial9 жыл бұрын
Yup I do that a lot. Tmr I will show online footage of how I carry that put :)

for some reason no matter how good my timing is, using shooters with ratings over 80, and shot grades better than B+ I cannot make more than 1 or 2 3pt out of 10.
@SamPhamNBA2KTipsandTutorial8 жыл бұрын
Just keep generating open shots and keep shooting them ignore makes, misses, and especially grade level

Also the spacing has changed and the 4 is on the wing.

+Max Brock that happens sometimes I think. Depending on your 4-man

I understand what happening... So you are calling for this spacing every time you bring the ball up? Or is it just during that first moment you showed at the beginning? Also, are you on ps4 Wouldn't mind getting beat on a couple times for practice haha lol
@SLyCeMD8 жыл бұрын
Also, I noticed you didn't mention the defensive schemes that were being used. It looked like protect the paint? Neutral aggression. Does that affect these nice freelance sets? If the team is playing limit permitter and aggressive? How different would these sets feel then?
@SamPhamNBA2KTipsandTutorial8 жыл бұрын
+TheTruth26 Yes for the spacing everytime i bring the ball up that's correct ^^

Nice video Sampham. This offense is overrated in nba2k, because you are counting on individual talent and just players standing in one spot while waiting for the pass or the action, if you dont have a modern 4 that can space the floor it wont work, But in nba2k the pNr is pretty overrated , especially the rollman. Thats just personal interests maybe, I do like the swing movement when u get some action

A lot of times when I run this the PF will come up from the wing and set a screen instead of Center, thus creating a different look. Am I doing something wrong?
@SamPhamNBA2KTipsandTutorial8 жыл бұрын
+Bryan Silagi yup. You want to use icon PnR to make sure your C comes to set ball screen. Go to my beginner's playlist and watch the PnR tutorial :)

+Sam Pham Bingo! That did the trick! Wish 2k would have better tutorials in game, but I guess I'll just have to keep watching your vids #subscribed
