Congrats Stephen for getting this video on Sample robots website well done.

Thanks, they reached out and asked if they could share it with their community, they seem like really cool people over there! I'm still loving the app too, keeps getting better as I explore it some more.

@@StephenOConnellCmdShiftNew Yeah its really good, its more enjoyable to use and very productive because of the fast turnaround from sound design to instrument.

Stephen just when I think you might run out topics to go over you go and do it again and pull an amazing bit of kit out of the bag. this is going to be a life saver literally, Like you and myself and many other sample heads out there its the most teadious job in music/sound design sampling and editing naming etc such a chore. Cant thank you enough for this video. Cheers!!!

@@StephenOConnellCmdShiftNew lol you're not joking. I was searching the tube to see if there were any tuts on how to record accustic instruments into Sample Robot and there is nothing that I have seen unless you know of any.

@@darcy4143 Yeah, I found Sample Robot to be weirdly lacking in the tutorial department, part of the reason I decided to make this video. So, unfortunately I haven't come across a video, I've been relying on info from their website and manual.

@@StephenOConnellCmdShiftNew Yeah it seems to be the case at the moment although I did find a video of a chap who recorded an accoustic instrument check it out kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6bFapewe8x2nJo The only thing is he recorded it the traditional way first then put the samples into Sample Robot.....Btw I bought it and after using it I can see why you were so excited about it.🙂

I have some older keyboards with 2-3 sounds I really like so I've wanted to sample them for a long time but it seemed so intimidating. Well, it feels less intimidating now with Sample Robot! Thanks for the information/demonstration!

If i have made an instrument by layering several vst instruments would samplerobot be able to sample this sound?
@StephenOConnellCmdShiftNew10 ай бұрын
Hey, great question, I think it should be able to, as it is essentially triggering the global keyboard in Kontakt. So if you set all of the instruments to an Omni port for the midi channel, then it should trigger them all when sampling.

Thank you for a great Explanation, and Vid. I know that the LOGIC PRO X can do the same, but is there any difference? Did you ever tried Autosampler? Is the quality same or is SR better. THANK YOU AGAIN
@StephenOConnellCmdShiftNew Жыл бұрын
Hey Timur, great question. I did use Logic's Autosampler a lot before Sample Robot, but it does have a few limitations. It still is tied to the DAW for example and doesn't have the export features or advanced looping features that Sample Robot has. Ultimately, Autosampler will get you a long way, but I think if you sample things regularly and spend a lot of time doing it, Sample Robot could be a great time saver with some cool features that really speed things up.

@@StephenOConnellCmdShiftNew hi and thank you for the follow up. I like the guy behind it, he has always been very helpful and kind. I have it but did not have time to dig on it yet. Auto sampler in logic was enough for me but now I must see what I can make wit this. I’m using korg, and have sample robot korg edition. I wonder if there is an pa series full support. Like it is now we can create a multi sample with multi layer, but we can’t load more than one layer on Pa series. You can load kmp files but just one layer at time, and manually fix the layers. Velo switches I mean. And that’s so time consuming. Thank you again . Take care

Thank you for making a tutorial about this! Question: Can you sample multiple plugins at once? In other words can I layer samples from say, different kontakt instruments and then sample them with Sample Robot to make one sound?
@StephenOConnellCmdShiftNew Жыл бұрын
Hey, I believe you can, though I'm still testing out everything that Sample Robot can do myself. In the manual though they do talk about how you can sample from a DAW, so you could sample the output from a DAW, with your samples/kontakt and any plugin FX, and it will still take care of the naming and looping automatically. I'm keen to try out this feature, I'm thinking I could sample once with Sample Robot some dry synth signals, throw them into Kontakt in Logic, add some FX plugins like distortion or chorus, then resample them through Sample Robot for a second layer.

@@StephenOConnellCmdShiftNew I'd like to know how well the Vst host works. Have tried an ancient version of Extreme Sample Converter which works quite well for how old it is with offline sampling as long as you can do with the old 32bit vst's. but if you try sampling any eg. Kontakt libraries bigger than 4gb it crashes quite often cause the host/plugin can't handle large instruments. I'd also like to see some tutorials how to get started creating my own sounds IN Kontakt. Some times I just wish I could sample one of my Kontakt sounds for live usage as I havn't taken the plunge yet to go full computer setup live. It's enough stressing thinking off the 4 min reboot time of my Kronos if it should happen to lock up one day while on a gig.

Any thoughts on how to sample a Logic Sampler in Sample Robot?
@StephenOConnellCmdShiftNew Жыл бұрын
Ooo that is an interesting question. They do have the option to sample "VST2" instruments, so you could load up, say, Kontakt in Sample Robot and sample it. However, Logic's samplers are native to the DAW and I don't think they can run stand alone, so I'm not sure if it's possible. You could use Logic's auto sampler to sample the notes, export the regions, import them into Sample Robot (I have a video to help out with that) and then you can process them further in Sample Robot, though that is a bit of a double handling situation.

@9:52. What version of Kontakt are you running?
@StephenOConnellCmdShiftNew Жыл бұрын
Hey, I'm running Kontakt 6 to build this library. I do have Kontakt 7, upgraded recently to test a commercial library I'm working on, but for the most part I still build in Kontakt 6 to make it more widely available.

hey Stephen,question,wich version did you buy,the pro version is pricy,cheers mate
@StephenOConnellCmdShiftNew Жыл бұрын
Hey Ronny, I probably should have mentioned that in the video, but I did buy the pro version. I tried out the "demo" first, but the problem I found with the demo version and the Multi-X version is the restriction on 24bit resolution. If you aren't bothered about that high res recording, I think Multi-X is great, but that was a deal breaker for me. I just tend to sample in higher res formats so I can manipulate the samples later with less degradation. It was pricey though, and that is what kept me thinking about it for like 6 months before finally caving and buying it haha.

@@StephenOConnellCmdShiftNew thanx Stephen,16 or 24 bit is just fine for me i sample things with the free mpc beats,no vst3 support tough,and looping is best done in kontakt,but hey,its free 😁 cheers mate

Hey, that’s right. Sample Robot offers a lot more flexibility and features than the Logic Auto Sampler, though I definitely loved and used that a lot before.

Why not use the auto sampler built into logic?
@StephenOConnellCmdShiftNew Жыл бұрын
Logic's auto sampler is a powerful tool, but if you sample a lot and regularly, Sample Robot has some pretty helpful tools that speed up the process, especially when working with Kontakt.

Thanks for your response, actually, I’m curious In the video, you said you exported for kontakt,, but then you had to import the samples anyways. How is “exporting for kontakt” any different if you’re going to use the audio files anyways

I know what you mean, I ummed and ahhed on it for ages before finally buying it. Half the price would have got me there waaaay faster. I'm glad I did, I use it so much, but if you use it casually and don't sample constantly, it's a pretty steep cost.
