Thank you. No line in sampling? I love line-in sampling with PO-33 from many different devices.
@LiamKillen3 жыл бұрын
Yeah you can do that too!
@highlanderes3 жыл бұрын
@@LiamKillen Hmm, line-in does not appear in the OP-Z manual, and googling around it seems like hours of finding a cable that might work with some firmwares. Hopefully some day they will make it a fully intentional useful feature, like on PO-33 (not holding my breath after all these years).

Interesting but there is still things I'm unsure about. When you say 6sec, is it per sample or total? How many sample can have stored at once? Thank you!
@LiamKillen4 жыл бұрын
It’s 6 seconds in total for melodic samples and i believe 12 seconds for percussion samples on the opz. For drum sampling, it gets all chopped up between each key- for melodic sampling it pitches the sample for each key.
@hilema414 жыл бұрын
@@LiamKillen ok, so no way to be using movie quotes or other songs part... too bad.
@anthonyb.29834 жыл бұрын
hilema41 People have done much more with much less sampling time. Pitch your sample up before you record and then pitch it back down after it is sampled onto the OP-Z (and OP-1). Since you are most likely already sampling straight from the computer, you can easily set your sample in a DAW an octave up to double your sample time, or go 2 octaves up to quadruple it, and so on...
@bjamminsincebirth34943 жыл бұрын
I’m curious about why you use 5 bars. I notice you do this often. What exactly does this do?
@LiamKillen3 жыл бұрын
It makes the pattern flow more and a bit more random
@bjamminsincebirth34943 жыл бұрын
@@LiamKillen Interesting 🤔 I might try implementing that in my workflow. Do you think that could work in any daw or is that a unique feature to the OP-Z?
@LiamKillen3 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah you can do it with anything really- experiment with different length loops to add variation to your beats

@djbowlz21284 жыл бұрын
The op1 sampler actually works exactly the same when you sample into the synth sampler instead of the drum sampler.
@LiamKillen4 жыл бұрын
You’re right but it’s way easier to chop up melodic samples in drum sampler on the op1- and you can just assign to any track. You can do the same in the opz but if you want to use performance functions while sampling a synth on a drum track, it really messes everything up.
@amfroke2 жыл бұрын
Hey LK. Love the videos, thanks for sharing all of your insights and content. How is your OP-Z holding up? I've been thinking of getting one, but have heard of some design flaws that hinder the unit in the long run (double triggers, warping, etc.).

Yo Liam! Quick Q: As someone who knows very little about creating music, I wanna get an OP-Z, but I am worried that it is alot of money to spend on something that I might be terrible at. Is the OP-Z a good place to start when making music?? curious to hear your thoughts... (Love your stuff either way)
@LiamKillen4 жыл бұрын
You might want to start with a DAW before buying an OPZ if you have little experience with creating music. But also if you buy an OPZ second hand you can just resell it if you’re not happy with it at about let the same price. It’s an investment!
